Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 1762

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Zayd, from his father (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him), that he and a man from the Ansar were present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of sacrifice (manhar). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had the hair of his blessed head shaved into a cloth, then gave that hair to him, and he distributed some of it among people. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) clipped his blessed nails and gave them to his companion. The narrator said: That hair is preserved with us, dyed with henna and katam (a dye).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.
