It is narrated from Imam al-Ahnaf bin Qays (may Allah have mercy on him) that he said: I often used to hear Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "No one from Quraysh enters any door except that other people enter it along with him." Al-Ahnaf bin Qays said: I did not know the real meaning of his saying until Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was wounded; he then ordered Sayyiduna Suhayb (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer, and he also instructed that food be arranged for the people. Then he narrated the full hadith, and this report has already passed in the Book of Funerals.
Its chain contains Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an, a da'if (weak) narrator.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) narrated a long hadith in which were also these words: "And were it not for my fear that Quraysh would become proud and boastful (on hearing of their virtues), I would certainly have informed them of the reward and rank decreed for them with Allah, the Mighty and Majestic. 'Allahumma innaka adhaqta awwalaha nakalan, fa-adhiq akhiraha nawalan' (O Allah, You made the first of them taste an exemplary punishment (because of their disbelief); now let those who come after them taste Your favour and bounty (through Islam))."
Imam Abu Ya'la also recorded this report in the same way with his own chain.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not revile Quraysh or speak ill of them, for the knowledge of one scholar of theirs will fill the face of the earth with knowledge and excellence." Imam Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi narrated this hadith in his Musnad; however, because of the weakness of al-Nadr bin Humayd and Abu al-Jarud in its chain, this report is not free of criticism with respect to its chain.

Imam Ahmad narrated this hadith in Musnad Ahmad (hadith: 15152); its chain contains a narrator named Mujalid bin Sa'id, whom the hadith scholars declared da'if (weak) because of his memory; however, its meaning is discussed in light of other supporting evidence.
