قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، ثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، وَاسْمُهُ بَاذَانُ مَوْلَى أُمِّ هَانِئٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ ، قَالَتْ : خَطَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاعْتَذَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَعَذَرَنِي ، ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ إِنَّا أَحْلَلْنَا لَكَ أَزْوَاجَكَ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ : هَاجَرْنَ مَعَكَ ، قَالَتْ : لَمْ أَكُنْ أَحِلُّ لَهُ ، وَلَمْ أَكُنْ هَاجَرْتُ مَعَهُ ، كُنْتُ مَعَ الطُّلَقَاءِ .

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me a proposal of marriage, and I asked him (peace and blessings be upon him) to excuse me, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) accepted my excuse. Then Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "O Prophet, indeed We have made lawful for you your wives to whom you have given their dowries, and those whom your right hand possesses from what Allah has granted you (as spoils), and the daughters of your paternal uncle, the daughters of your paternal aunts, the daughters of your maternal uncle and the daughters of your maternal aunts who emigrated with you" [Surah al-Ahzab: 50]. Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I was not lawful for him (peace and blessings be upon him) (under this ruling), because I had not emigrated with him (peace and blessings be upon him); rather, I was among those who were set free on the day of the Conquest of Makkah."

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَعْدَةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أُمِّ مَالِكٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - قَالَ : جَاءَتْ أُمُّ مَالِكٍ - رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا - بِعُكَّةِ سَمْنٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَالًا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَعَصَرَهَا ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَهَا إِلَيْهَا ، فَرَجَعَتْ ، فَإِذَا هِيَ مَمْلُوءَةٌ سَمْنًا ، فَأَتَيْتُ فَقُلْتُ : نَزَلَ فِيَّ شَيْءٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَمَا ذَاكِ يَا أُمَّ مَالِكٍ ؟ قَالَتْ : رَدَدْتَ عَلَيَّ هَدِيَّتِي ، قَالَ : فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِلَالًا رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالَ : وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَقَدْ عَصَرْتُهَا حَتَّى اسْتَحْيَيْتُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : هَنِيئًا لَكِ يَا أُمَّ مَالِكٍ ، هَذِهِ بَرَكَةٌ عَجَّلَ اللهُ لَكِ ثَوَابَهَا .
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Malik al-Ansariyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a small skin of ghee (a small leather container) as a gift. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) (to empty it), so he squeezed it out thoroughly and then returned the container to her. When she went back, she saw that the skin was full of ghee again. So she (worried) came to him again and said: "O Messenger of Allah, has some revelation (of reproach or prohibition) been sent down concerning me?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Umm Malik, what is the matter?" She said: "You returned my gift to me (that is, perhaps you did not accept it)." The narrator says: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) summoned Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about it, and he said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, I squeezed it so much that I became embarrassed (at squeezing it again and again)." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "'Hani'an laki ya Umma Malik' (May it be wholesome and blessed for you, O Umm Malik); 'hadhihi barakatun 'ajjalallahu laki thawabaha' (this is a blessing whose reward Allah Almighty has hastened for you in this very world)."
This report indicates the blessing of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the miracle of his blessed hand: because of the sincerity of the female Companion, Allah Almighty placed such blessing in her gift that, despite being squeezed out, the container filled up again.
