Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had their own doors that opened into the mosque. The narrator says: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Close these doors, except leave Ali's door." The narrator says: The people talked about this. The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and after praising and glorifying Allah Almighty, he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To proceed: I ordered that all the doors be closed and that Ali's door be left open, and one of you said something about it. By Allah! I have neither closed anything nor opened anything (that is, I did not do this of my own accord); rather, I followed what I was commanded."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains Maymun Abu Abdullah, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) and a group declared da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Hadith Takhrij«اخرجه الطبراني فى المعجم الصغير (369/4)»
Abdullah bin al-Raqim al-Kinani narrates: We went to Madinah at the time of the Battle of the Camel, and there we met Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that all the doors opening into the mosque be closed; only the door of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was left.
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la, al-Bazzar, and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it, and he added these words: "The people said: 'O Messenger of Allah! You have closed all our doors and left only the door of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'It was not I who closed your doors; rather, Allah Almighty closed them.'" Ahmad's chain is hasan (good).

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and said: "Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) asked his Lord to make his mosque prevail through Sayyiduna Harun (peace be upon him), and I have asked my Lord to make my mosque prevail through you and your offspring." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Close your door." He said "Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un (We belong to Allah and to Him we return)," and then said: "I hear and obey." He closed his door. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and then he sent similar word to Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It was not I who closed your doors and left Ali's door open; rather, Allah Almighty left Ali's door open and had your doors closed."
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go and instruct them to close their doors." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I went and told those people. They did so, except Hamzah, who did not. I submitted: O Messenger of Allah, everyone except Hamzah has done so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Tell Hamzah to move his door. I came and said: The Messenger of Allah has ordered you to move your door. So he moved it. Then, when I returned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he was standing in prayer, and he said: Go back to your house.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains weak narrators who have, however, been declared trustworthy.

Al-Ala' bin al-Arar narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked about Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: As for Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), do not ask about him; look at the rank and standing he had with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had all our doors into the mosque closed and left only his door open. As for Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), on the day the two hosts met he committed a grave sin, but Allah Almighty pardoned him; and among you he committed a sin lesser than that, and you people martyred him.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the doors be closed, except the particular door of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) submitted: O Messenger of Allah, allow just enough space for me alone to enter and go out? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have not been commanded to do that. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had all the doors closed except the particular door of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him). The narrator says: Sometimes Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) would pass through there while he was in a state of janabah (major ritual impurity).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Nasih bin Abdullah, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the people of the mosque were sent out and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was left, people talked about it. News of this reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "I did not send you out on my own account, nor did I leave Ali on my own account; rather, Allah Almighty sent you out and let him remain. I am a servant bound by command; whatever I am commanded, I do. I follow only what is revealed to me."

Muhammad bin Ali narrated from Ibrahim bin Sa'd, from his father, and this has also been transmitted from Muhammad bin Ali as a mursal report. He says: Some people were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came, and when Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) entered, those people went out. When they had gone out, they blamed one another and said to each other: By Allah, we were not sent out, so go back.
