بَابُ فَتْحِ بَابِهِ الَّذِي فِي الْمَسْجِدِ .

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا أَخْرَجَ أَهْلَ الْمَسْجِدِ وَتَرَكَ عَلِيًّا قَالَ النَّاسَ فِي ذَلِكَ ، فَبَلَغَ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَقَالَ : " مَا أَنَا أَخْرَجْتُكُمْ مِنْ قِبَلِ نَفْسِي ، وَلَا أَنَا تَرَكْتُهُ ، وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَخْرَجَكُمْ وَتَرَكَهُ ، إِنَّمَا أَنَا عَبْدٌ مَأْمُورٌ مَا أُمِرْتُ بِهِ فَعَلْتُ إِنْ أَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوحَى إِلَيَّ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ جَمَاعَةٌ اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِمْ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the people of the mosque were sent out and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was left, people talked about it. News of this reached the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "I did not send you out on my own account, nor did I leave Ali on my own account; rather, Allah Almighty sent you out and let him remain. I am a servant bound by command; whatever I am commanded, I do. I follow only what is revealed to me."
