Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Indeed, Allah Almighty looked at the hearts of His servants and found the heart of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to be the best of all hearts, so He chose him for Himself and sent him (peace and blessings be upon him) with His message."
This narration has already passed in full before this in the chapter on consensus (ijma').
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) committed the error that he committed, he raised his head and looked towards the Throne and said: 'O Allah! I supplicate to You through the means (wasilah) of Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) that You forgive me!' Allah Almighty revealed to him: 'How did you come to know about Muhammad?' He said: 'Blessed is Your Name! When You created me, I raised my head and looked towards Your Throne, and I saw written on it: La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasulullah (There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah). So I came to know that no one has greater rank and standing with You than the one whose name You have placed with Your Name.' Then Allah revealed to Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him): 'O Adam! He will be the last Prophet from your progeny, and his Ummah will be the last Ummah from your progeny; had it not been for him, I would not have created you.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Saghir, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
Sayyiduna Ali al-Hilali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during the illness in which he passed away. Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was at his bedside. She began to weep, until her voice rose. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his gaze, looked at her and said: "O my beloved Fatimah! Why are you weeping?" She said: "I fear being left neglected after you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O my beloved! Do you not know that Allah Almighty turned His attention to the earth and chose your father from it, and sent him with His message? Then He turned His attention to the earth and chose your husband from it. Allah Almighty revealed to me: 'I will have you married to him.' O Fatimah! We are the people of a household to whom Allah Almighty has given seven special qualities which were not given to anyone before us and will not be given to anyone after us: I am the one who seals the line of the prophets; I am the most honoured of all the prophets in the presence of Allah Almighty; I am the most beloved of all creation to Allah Almighty; and I am your father." After this the narrator mentioned the whole hadith, which is in the chapter on the virtue of the Ahl al-Bayt as a complete narration.

Then He turned His attention a second time and chose your husband. And Allah Almighty revealed this to me, so I married you to him, and I made him my executor (wasi)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it.
This narration is reported from that Companion in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir: Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our Prophet is the best of all the prophets."
He recorded it with various chains, one of which is hasan (good).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I asked my Lord for something, and I wished I had not asked it. I said: 'O my Lord! Among the messengers before me, for one of them You subjugated the winds, and one of them used to bring the dead to life.' The Lord said: 'Is it not so that I found you an orphan and gave you shelter, and I found you unaware (dall) and guided you? Is it not so that I found you in need and made you self-sufficient? Did I not open your heart for you, and did I not lift your burden from you?' I said: 'Yes indeed! O my Lord!'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ata bin al-Sa'ib, who had suffered confusion (ikhtilat).
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Jibril came to me and said: 'My Lord and your Lord says: How have I exalted your mention?'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Allah knows best." Then (Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has said:) "When I am mentioned, you will be mentioned along with Me."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its chain (the text is incomplete here).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection I will be the leader of all the children of Adam, and I do not say this by way of pride. I will be the first person for whom the earth will be split open, and I will be the first to intercede and the one whose intercession will be accepted. In my hand will be the Banner of Praise (Liwa' al-Hamd), and Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) and all others besides him will be beneath it."
Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin Uthman al-Kilabi, whom Ibn Hibban declared trustworthy despite his weakness; the rest of the narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I am the leader of the messengers, and I do not say this by way of pride; I am the one who seals the line of the prophets, and I do not say this by way of pride; and I am the first to intercede and the first person whose intercession will be accepted, and I do not say this by way of pride."

It is narrated from him that he said: By the One in whose Hand is my soul, on the Day of Resurrection the closest of people will be Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), who will be seated on the Kursi at His right side. The chain of this report contains a narrator who has not been named.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) says: "Indeed, Allah Almighty has given Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) superiority over all the inhabitants of the heavens and all the inhabitants of the earth." A man said: O Abu Abbas, in what respect has Allah Almighty given Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) superiority over the inhabitants of the heavens and the inhabitants of the earth? He said: Allah Almighty has said concerning the inhabitants of the heavens: "And whoever of them says, 'I am a god besides Him,' We will recompense him with Hell; thus do We recompense the wrongdoers." And Allah Almighty has said concerning Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory, so that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins." It was said to him: O Abu Abbas, how is he superior to the other prophets? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Allah Almighty has said: "We did not send any messenger except with the language of his people." And Allah Almighty has said concerning Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "And We have not sent you except to all of mankind as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner." So Allah Almighty sent him to mankind and the jinn.

Then he recited this verse: "It may be that your Lord will raise you to a praised station (al-Maqam al-Mahmud)." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the Sahih, only this part of it is mentioned: "And your master (that is, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)) is the Khalil of Allah," and that is in the middle of a hadith.

May Allah Almighty send blessings and peace upon all of them.
