وَعَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا : " أَمَا عَلِمْتِ أَنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - اطَّلَعَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فَاخْتَارَ مِنْهُمْ أَبَاكِ ، فَبَعَثَهُ نَبِيًّا ، ثُمَّ اطَّلَعَ الثَّانِيَةَ فَاخْتَارَ بَعْلَكِ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَيَّ فَأَنْكَحْتُهُ وَاتَّخَذْتُهُ وَصِيًّا " .

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Do you not know that Allah Almighty turned His attention to the people of the earth and chose your father from among them, and sent him as a prophet? Then He turned His attention a second time and chose your husband. And Allah Almighty revealed this to me, so I married you to him, and I made him my executor (wasi)."
