Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "I was present with my paternal uncles at the alliance of al-Mutayyabin (the Perfumed Ones), and I was a boy in those days. I would not like to break that alliance, even if I were to be given red camels in exchange for it." Al-Zuhri said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever alliance Islam finds, it only increases its strength; however, there is no alliance in Islam." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had established affection between Quraysh and the Ansar.
Imam Ahmad, Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it. The narrators of the hadith of Sayyiduna Abdul Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) are the narrators of the Sahih, and the same is true of the mursal report of al-Zuhri.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "It would not please me to be given red camels and that I break the alliance that was made in Dar al-Nadwah."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Marzuq bin al-Marzuban, and I do not know him. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
Budayl bin Warqa' narrates: On the day of Hudaybiyah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought Khuza'ah into the alliance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote this letter to them, to Budayl bin Warqa' and to the chiefs of Banu Amr: "Peace be upon you! I praise before you Allah, besides whom there is no god; He alone is worthy of worship. To proceed: I have not held your affair to be a sin, nor have I set you aside. Among the people of Tihamah, the most honoured in my sight are you, and those who follow you from among the Mutayyabin. I have secured for the one who emigrates the same as I have secured for myself, even if he emigrates from his own land without settling in Makkah. So you need not fear me, nor be made to fear." These, or words like them, were what it said.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
Salamah bin Budayl bin Warqa' narrates: My father, Budayl bin Warqa', handed this letter over to me and said: "O my son, this is the letter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so take good care of it; as long as it remains among you, you will continue to be in goodness." "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a letter from the Messenger of Allah, Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), to Budayl bin Warqa', Bishr and the chiefs of Banu Amr. I praise before you Allah, besides whom there is no god. To proceed: I do not hold your affair to be a sin, nor do I set you aside. Among the people of Tihamah, the most honoured in my sight are you, and the closest to me in kinship, and those who follow you from among the Mutayyabin. For whoever of you emigrates, I have secured the same as I have secured for myself, even if he emigrated from his own land and did not settle in Makkah, except for one performing Umrah or Hajj. I have not neglected your affair, or have not handed it over; you need not fear me, nor be besieged. To proceed: Alqamah bin Ulathah and the two sons of Awn have accepted Islam, and they have pledged allegiance on behalf of those of Ikrimah who follow them, and he has secured for those of you who follow him the same as he secured for himself. We are part of one another forever, in the Hill (outside the sanctuary) and in the Haram." Abu Muhammad said: My father narrated to me
this report: I heard our Shaykhs saying: This letter was written by Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him).
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no alliance in Islam, and whatever alliance was made in the Days of Ignorance, Islam will only increase its strength and firmness."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it, and Imam Ahmad recorded it in abridged form; the narrators of both are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no alliance in Islam. Whatever alliance was made in the Days of Ignorance, Islam will only increase its strength."
Imam Abu Ya'la and Imam al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains the grandmother of Ibn Abi Mulaykah, and I do not know the two of them; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Furat bin Hibban al-Ijli (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the alliance of the Days of Ignorance, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps you wish to ask me about the alliance of Lakhm and Tamim?" He replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam will only increase its strength." Its narrators have been declared trustworthy, though there is weakness in some of them.
