وَعَنْ فُرَاتِ بْنِ حِبَّانَ الْعِجْلِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - عَنْ حِلْفِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَعَلَّكَ تَسْأَلُ عَنْ حَلِيفِ لَخْمٍ وَتَمِيمٍ ؟ " . قَالَ : نَعَمْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَا يَزِيدُهُ الْإِسْلَامُ إِلَّا شِدَّةً " . وَرِجَالُهُ وُثِّقُوا وَفِي بَعْضِهِمْ ضَعْفٌ .
Sayyiduna Furat bin Hibban al-Ijli (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the alliance of the Days of Ignorance, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps you wish to ask me about the alliance of Lakhm and Tamim?" He replied: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam will only increase its strength." Its narrators have been declared trustworthy, though there is weakness in some of them.
