وَعَنْ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ وَرْقَاءَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - أَدْخَلَ فِي حِلْفِ يَوْمِ الْحُدَيْبِيَةَ خُزَاعَةَ ، وَكَتَبَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَإِلَى بُدَيْلِ بْنِ وَرْقَاءَ سَرَوَاتِ بَنِي عَمْرٍو : " سَلَامٌ عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَإِنِّي أَحْمَدُ إِلَيْكُمُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ، أَمَّا بَعْدُ : فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَثِمَّ بَالَكُمْ وَلَمْ أَضَعْ فِي جَنْبِكُمْ ، وَإِنَّ أَكْرَمَ تِهَامَةَ عَلَيَّ لَأَنْتُمْ وَمَنْ تَبِعَكُمْ مِنَ الْمُطَّلِبِينَ ، وَقَدْ أَخَذْتُ لِمَنْ هَاجَرَ مِثْلَ مَا أَخَذْتُ لِنَفْسِي ، وَلَوْ هَاجَرَ بِأَرْضِهِ غَيْرُ سَاكِنِ مَكَّةَ وَإِنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ خَائِفِينَ مِنْ قِبَلِي وَلَا مُخَوَّفِينَ " . هَذَا أَوْ نَحْوُهُ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ جَمَاعَةٌ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Budayl bin Warqa' narrates: On the day of Hudaybiyah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) brought Khuza'ah into the alliance. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote this letter to them, to Budayl bin Warqa' and to the chiefs of Banu Amr: "Peace be upon you! I praise before you Allah, besides whom there is no god; He alone is worthy of worship. To proceed: I have not held your affair to be a sin, nor have I set you aside. Among the people of Tihamah, the most honoured in my sight are you, and those who follow you from among the Mutayyabin. I have secured for the one who emigrates the same as I have secured for myself, even if he emigrates from his own land without settling in Makkah. So you need not fear me, nor be made to fear." These, or words like them, were what it said.
