Al-Muttalib bin Abdullah al-Makhzumi relates: I went to Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), the honoured wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and she said: "O my son! Shall I not tell you a hadith that I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" I said: "Yes indeed, O mother!" She said: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever spends on two daughters, or two sisters, or two female relatives, hoping for reward for spending on them, and keeps spending until, by the grace of Allah Almighty, the two of them (girls) become self-sufficient or are provided for, the two of them will become a barrier shielding that person from Hell.'"
Imam Ahmad and Imam Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Humayd al-Madani, and he is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has three daughters whom he shelters, shows mercy to and provides for, Paradise becomes definitely binding for him." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! What if there are two?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if there are two, the same applies." The narrator says: Those present thought that if the man had asked, 'What if there is one?', the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would have said, 'Even if there is one (the same reward will be gained).'
Imam Ahmad, Imam Bazzar, and Imam Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded something similar, and added the words: "and he gets them married." It is narrated through various routes, and the chain of Imam Ahmad is jayyid (good).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever has two sisters and treats them well for as long as they remain with him, he will enter Paradise because of them." (Allamah Haythami says: I say:
Imam Ibn Majah recorded this report, but he mentioned the word "two daughters" in place of "two sisters."
Imam Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Shurahbil bin Sa'd, whom Ibn Hibban declared trustworthy while the majority of the imams declared him da'if (weak), and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever takes care of an orphan, whether a relative or not a relative, he and I will be in Paradise like (these two fingers)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while joining his two fingers together (and then said): "Whoever raises three daughters will go to Paradise, and he will receive a reward like that of a mujahid in the path of Allah who fasts and stands in prayer."
Imam Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, and he is a mudallis.
Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Any Muslim who has three daughters and spends on them until they reach maturity or die, they will become a barrier for him from Hell." A woman said: "What if there are two?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if there are two (the same reward will be gained)."
Imam Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Nahhas bin Qahm, and he is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any member of my Ummah who has three daughters or three sisters and provides for them until they reach maturity, that person will be with me in Paradise like this." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while joining his index finger and middle finger together. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" this is mentioned from this Companion: "Whoever provides for two girls".
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat with two chains, and the narrators of one of them are the narrators of the Sahih.
Sayyiduna Abu al-Muhabbarah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever provides for two daughters, or two sisters, or two maternal aunts, or two paternal aunts, or two grandmothers, will be with me in Paradise like these two (fingers)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while joining his index finger and the finger next to it (and then he further said): "If they are three, that person will be weighed down by debt, and if they are four or five, then O servants of Allah, go to him, lend to him, enter into partnership (mudarabah) with him, enter into partnership with him!"
Imam Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yahya bin Abd al-Hamid al-Himmani, and he is da'if (weak).
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever has a daughter and brings her up and brings her up well, teaches her and teaches her well, and generously gives her of the blessings of Allah Almighty that Allah Almighty has granted him, that girl will become a protection and a shield for him from Hell."
Imam Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Talhah bin Zayd, and he is a fabricator of hadith.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever has three daughters and provides for them, shelters them and looks after them, Paradise becomes binding for him." We said: "What if there are two daughters?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if there are two daughters (the same reward is gained)." We said: "What if there is one?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if there is one (the same reward is gained)."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that a woman came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and her two daughters were with her. The narrator relates: Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave her three dates. She gave each of her two daughters one date, then she took the third date and was about to put it in her mouth, and the two girls were looking at her. She split that date into two halves and gave each of them half a date, then she left. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came home, Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) told the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about that woman's conduct, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That woman will enter Paradise because of it."
Imam Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ubaydullah bin Fadalah, whom Imam al-Mizzi mentioned in the biography of Muslim bin Ibrahim al-Farahidi, the one who narrates from him; he says: "Ubayd al-Rahman bin Fadalah, the brother of Mubarak bin Fadalah." I say: I do not know him, and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.
Sayyiduna Imam Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: A woman came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and her two sons were with her. She asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for something, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave her three dates, so that each of them would get one date. She gave each of them one date, which he ate; then the two children looked at their mother. She split the third date into two halves and gave each of them half a date. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Because of this woman's mercy towards her two sons, Allah Almighty has shown mercy to her."
Imam Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Khudayj bin Mu'awiyah al-Ju'fi, and he is da'if (weak).
