Reports on branding animals

Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade branding on the face. So Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Now I will brand only on the raised parts near the tail of (the animal)."
Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it, and the narrators of both are thiqat (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about some of its narrators; however, Ja'far bin Tammam bin al-Abbas did not hear from his grandfather. And Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A camel which had been branded on its face passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If the owners of this camel had kept the fire away from this animal, it would have been more appropriate." The narrator says: I said: "I will brand on the part farthest from its face." The narrator says: So I began branding on the raised part near the tail.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
Al-Bazzar also recorded it. At its beginning he recorded these words: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade branding, that it should be done on the face. The rest of the narration is as before.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a donkey which had been branded on its face, and he said: "May Allah Almighty curse the person who made this brand."
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat) recorded it. The narrators of al-Bazzar are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) branded a camel on its face. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Why did you not put it somewhere other than the face?" He said: "By the One who sent you with the truth, from now on I will brand only on its rearmost bone." So he branded on the raised bone near the tail.
Al-Bazzar recorded it from his teacher Isma'il, from Khalid al-Tahhan. I do not know Isma'il. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the person who brands the face.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Junadah bin Jaradah (may Allah be pleased with him), who belonged to Banu Ghaylan bin Junadah, narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with some camels which I had branded on their noses. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Junadah, did you find no limb to brand other than the face? Ahead of you lies retribution for it." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, their matter is in your hands." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring me something that has no brand on it." So I brought him an ibn labun and a hiqqah. I placed the branding iron on (the animal's) neck, and he kept saying: "Move it back, move it back," until it reached the thigh. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Brand with the blessing of Allah Almighty." So I branded them on their thighs. Their zakah came to two hiqqahs, and they were ninety.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.

Sayyiduna Nuqadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I brand?" He said: "Did I not see you branding on the face? Do not burn the flesh." I said: "Then where should I brand?" He said: "At the place of the rope, towards the back."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
