Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Amrah narrates this from his paternal uncle: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not combine my name and my kunyah."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Fadalah al-Zafari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived in Madinah, I was two weeks old. I was brought to him, and he passed his hand over my head and said: "Name him according to my name, but do not give him a kunyah according to my kunyah." The narrator says: My father took me with him on the Farewell Hajj, and at that time I was ten years old. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Fadalah (may Allah be pleased with him) lived a long life, until the hair of his head turned white, but the hair did not turn white at the spot where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his blessed hand.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ya'qub bin Muhammad al-Zuhri, whom Ibn Hibban and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while a group declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains al-Hakam bin Atiyyah, whom Ahmad declared thiqah (trustworthy) while others declared him da'if (weak). The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Layla narrates: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) looked at the son of Abd al-Hamid, whose name was Muhammad, while that man was saying to him: O Muhammad! May Allah Almighty do such-and-such to you. So Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) named him Abd al-Rahman. Then he sent for the Banu Talhah, who were seven people; their chief and eldest was Muhammad bin Talhah. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) changed their names, and Muhammad bin Talhah said: O Commander of the Believers, I ask you by Allah (not to do this), for Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave me this name. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Get up! For there is no way (to change the name of) someone whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has named.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and these words are his; Ahmad also recorded it, and the narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.

Isa bin Talhah narrates: The wet nurse of Muhammad bin Talhah relates that when Muhammad bin Talhah was born, I brought him to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: What will you name him? We said: Muhammad. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is according to my name, and his kunyah will be Abu al-Qasim.
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Ibrahim bin Uthman Abu Shaybah, who is matruk (abandoned). Al-Tabarani says: Sayyiduna Muhammad bin Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) was born during the blessed lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) named him Muhammad and gave him the kunyah Abu al-Qasim.
