بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي الْعَقْلِ وَالْعُقَلَاءِ

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - الْعَقْلَ قَالَ لَهُ : قُمْ . فَقَامَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : أَدْبِرْ [ خَلْفَكَ ] . فَأَدْبَرَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ : اقْعُدْ . فَقَعَدَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : وَعِزَّتِي مَا خَلَقَتُ خَلْقًا خَيْرًا مِنْكَ ، وَلَا أَكْرَمَ مِنْكَ ، وَلَا أَفْضَلَ مِنْكَ وَلَا أَحْسَنَ ، بِكَ آخُذُ وَبِكَ أُعْطِي وَبِكَ أُعْرَفُ ، وَبِكَ الثَّوَابُ وَعَلَيْكَ الْعِقَابُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عِيسَى الرَّقَاشِيُّ وَهُوَ مُجْمَعٌ عَلَى ضَعْفِهِ .

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty created the intellect, He said to it: 'Stand up,' and it stood up. Allah Almighty said to it: 'Go back,' and it went back. Then Allah Almighty said to it: 'Sit down,' and it sat down. Allah Almighty said to it: 'By My Might, I have not created any creation better than you, more honoured than you, more excellent than you or finer than you. On account of you I will take to account, on account of you I will give, on account of you I will be known; through you reward will be given, and upon you will be the punishment.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains al-Fadl bin Isa al-Raqashi, whose weakness is agreed upon.

وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْعَقْلَ قَالَ لَهُ : أَقْبِلْ . فَأَقْبَلَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ : أَدْبِرْ . فَأَدْبَرَ ، فَقَالَ : وَعِزَّتِي مَا خَلَقْتُ خَلْقًا أَعْجَبَ إِلَيَّ مِنْكَ ، بِكَ آخُذُ وَبِكَ أُعْطِي ، وَبِكَ الثَّوَابُ وَعَلَيْكَ الْعِقَابُ " .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty created the intellect, He said to it: 'Come forward,' and it came forward. Then Allah Almighty said: 'Go back,' and it went back. Then Allah Almighty said: 'By My Might, I have not created any creation more pleasing to Me than you. On account of you I will take to account, through you I will give, on account of you I will grant reward, and upon you will be the punishment.'"

وَعَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " رَأْسُ الْعَقْلِ بَعْدَ الْإِيمَانِ بِاللَّهِ التَّحَبُّبُ إِلَى النَّاسِ " .

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الصَّلَاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ وَالْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ وَالْجِهَادِ ، حَتَّى ذَكَرَ سِهَامَ الْخَيْرِ ، وَمَا يُجْزَى يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِلَّا بِقَدْرِ عَقْلِهِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ صُقَيْرٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ : لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ ، وَسَقَطَ مِنَ الْإِسْنَادِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْصُورُ بْنُ صُقَيْرٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ مَعِينٍ : لَيْسَ بِالْقَوِيِّ ، وَسَقَطَ مِنَ الْإِسْنَادِ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man may be among the people of prayer, zakah, Hajj, Umrah and jihad (the narrator says: until the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned all the portions of good), yet on the Day of Resurrection he will be rewarded only according to his intellect."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Mansur bin Suqayr; Yahya bin Ma'in says: He is not strong. A narrator named Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abi Farwah has dropped out of the chain, and he is matruk (abandoned).

وَعَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " قَدْ يَتَوَجَّهُ الرَّجُلَانِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَيَنْصَرِفُ أَحَدُهُمَا وَصَلَاتُهُ أَفْضَلُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ ، إِذَا كَانَ أَفْضَلَهُمَا عَقْلًا ، وَيَنْصَرِفُ الْآخَرُ وَصَلَاتُهُ لَا تَعْدِلُ [ مِثْقَالَ ] ذَرَّةٍ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ وَلَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two men come to the mosque; one of them goes back with his prayer more excellent than the other's, when he is the more excellent of the two in intellect; and the other goes back with his prayer not equal even to the weight of a speck."

وَعَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِذَا بَلَغَهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ شِدَّةَ عِبَادَةٍ ، سَأَلَ عَنْ عَقْلِهِ ، فَإِنْ قَالُوا : حَسَنٌ قَالَ : " أَرْجُو لَهُ " . وَإِنْ قَالُوا غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ : " لَا يَبْلُغُ صَاحِبُكُمْ حَيْثُ تَظُنُّونَ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مَرْوَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned about a man that he worshipped intensely, he would ask about his intellect. If the people said it was in good condition, he would say: "I have hope of good for him." And if the people said otherwise, he would say: "Your companion has not reached the station you think he has."

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَنَا الشَّاهِدُ عَلَى اللَّهِ - عَزَّ - وَجَلَّ أَنْ لَا يَعْثُرَ عَاقِلٌ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ لَا يَعْثُرُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ لَا يَعْثُرُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ ، حَتَّى يُصَيِّرَهُ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ الرُّومِيِّ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ وَضَعَّفَهُ جَمَاعَةٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I bear witness on behalf of Allah Almighty that whenever an intelligent person stumbles, Allah Almighty raises him up; then when he stumbles, Allah Almighty raises him up; then when he stumbles, Allah Almighty raises him up, until Allah Almighty brings him into Paradise."
