وَعَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ الْعَقْلَ قَالَ لَهُ : أَقْبِلْ . فَأَقْبَلَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ : أَدْبِرْ . فَأَدْبَرَ ، فَقَالَ : وَعِزَّتِي مَا خَلَقْتُ خَلْقًا أَعْجَبَ إِلَيَّ مِنْكَ ، بِكَ آخُذُ وَبِكَ أُعْطِي ، وَبِكَ الثَّوَابُ وَعَلَيْكَ الْعِقَابُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَالْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عُمَرُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ قَالَ الذَّهَبِيُّ : لَا يُعْرَفُ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When Allah Almighty created the intellect, He said to it: 'Come forward,' and it came forward. Then Allah Almighty said: 'Go back,' and it went back. Then Allah Almighty said: 'By My Might, I have not created any creation more pleasing to Me than you. On account of you I will take to account, through you I will give, on account of you I will grant reward, and upon you will be the punishment.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Umar bin Abi Salih; al-Dhahabi says: He is not known.
