In one narration the wording is: "The last thing of the words of the earlier prophets that the people of the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) held on to (is this:)"
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyidah Umm al-Tufayl (may Allah be pleased with her) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "It used to be said that among what people have found of the words of prophethood (is this): When you have no shame, then do whatever you wish."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Harith bin Jaz' al-Zubaydi (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he and a companion of his passed by while some young men of Quraysh had taken off their waist-wraps, twisted them into whips, and were striking one another with them, and they were naked. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: When we passed by them, they said: "These are priests (pious men); leave them alone!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to them, and when they saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), they scattered. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned he was angry, and he went inside. I was just outside the chamber, and I heard him say: "Glory be to Allah! These people neither felt shame before Allah nor covered themselves from His Messenger." At that time Sayyidah Umm Ayman (may Allah be pleased with her) was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and she was saying: "O Messenger of Allah! Pray for their forgiveness." The narrator says: Only with great difficulty did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pray for forgiveness for them.
Ahmad recorded it, and Abu Ya'la recorded it with these words: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) said: By my father, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pray for forgiveness for them.
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani also recorded it, and the narrators of one of al-Tabarani's two chains are thiqat (trustworthy).
