Sulaym bin Aswad narrated the following account from a Companion belonging to Banu Yarbu'; he said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I heard him while he was talking with them, and he was saying: "The hand that gives is the upper one. (Spend) on your mother, your father, your sister and your brother, and then on your nearest relatives, degree by degree." The narrator said: A man said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu', who harmed so-and-so." The narrator said: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Behold! No soul is held liable for the crime of another."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

It is narrated from a man of Banu Tamim, one of the early ones, who was a grown man in the time of Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him), reporting from his father that he met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, write a document for me that I will not be seized for the crime of anyone else." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is granted to you, and it is granted to every Muslim."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator who is not named, and the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said during the Farewell Hajj: "Do not turn back into disbelievers after me, striking one another's necks. No man will be seized for the crime of his brother, nor will he be seized for the crime of his father."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Muhammad bin Mihsan, who is matruk (abandoned).

Husayn bin Abi al-Hurr narrates that his father Malik and his two paternal uncles, Ubayd and Qays, all sons of al-Khashkhash, came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained to him that a man from among their cousins had raided people. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wrote a letter to them (in which was written): "This is a letter from Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), to Malik and Ubayd: You are secure Muslims, and your lives and your wealth are under a guarantee of safety. You will not be seized for the crime of anyone other than yourselves, and no one will bring liability upon you; only what you yourselves do is a different matter."
Al-Tabarani recorded it.
It is mursal, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
