Sulaym bin Aswad narrated the following account from a Companion belonging to Banu Yarbu'; he said: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and I heard him while he was talking with them, and he was saying: "The hand that gives is the upper one. (Spend) on your mother, your father, your sister and your brother, and then on your nearest relatives, degree by degree." The narrator said: A man said to him: "O Messenger of Allah, these are Banu Tha'labah bin Yarbu', who harmed so-and-so." The narrator said: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Behold! No soul is held liable for the crime of another."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
