Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade cauterization, and he used to dislike drinking hot water.

He said: "An evil death, for the Jews" (he said this twice); "they say: Why did this man not have his companion's illness removed? Yet I have no power (of my own) over any harm or benefit for him; but I will certainly try some means (that is, a method of treatment) for him."
