Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "I gave my maternal aunt Fakhitah bint Amr a slave boy as a gift, and I instructed her not to make him a butcher, a craftsman, or a cupper."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Uthman bin Abd al-Rahman al-Waqqasi, who is matruk (abandoned).

It is reported about a man from the Ansar named Muhayyisah that he had a slave boy who used to do cupping. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from (using) his earnings. He submitted: "Should I not feed it to the orphans in my care?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No!" He submitted: "Should I not give it in charity?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) permitted him to use it to feed his (water-carrying) camel. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
This narration is reported in the three "Sunan" in abridged form.

Yahya bin Abi Sulaym narrates: I heard Abayah bin Rifa'ah bin Rafi' relate that when his grandfather died, he left behind a slave woman, a (water-carrying) camel, a slave boy who did cupping, and a piece of land. Regarding the slave woman, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade her earnings. Shu'bah said: (This was) out of fear that she might turn to indecency. And he said: "Whatever the cupper earns, feed it to the camel." And regarding the land he said: "Cultivate it yourself or leave it as it is (that is, do not lease it out)."
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it; the narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called Abu Taybah, and he cupped him. He said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "How much is your levy (owed to your masters)?" He replied: "Three sa'." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remitted one sa' (from him).
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except that this narration is from Ja'far bin Abi Wahshiyyah from Sulayman bin Qays, and according to one view Ja'far did not hear from him.

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had himself cupped on the two veins called al-akhda'an and between the two shoulders, and he gave the cupper his fee. Had it been unlawful, he would not have given it to him.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains Jubarah bin Mughallis, whom Ibn Numayr declared trustworthy, while the Imams declared him da'if (weak), and Yahya bin Ma'in accused him of lying.

Abu Jamilah al-Tuhawi narrates: I heard Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had himself cupped. When he (the cupper) had finished, he asked the cupper: "How much is your levy?" He replied: "Two sa'." So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remitted one sa' for him, and he instructed me to give him one sa'.
Abdullah bin Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Abu Janab al-Kalbi, who is a mudallis, and a group (of scholars) declared him trustworthy.

So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to his masters that they should reduce his levy for him.

(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: This narration is mentioned in the "Sahih" and in other books as well, but without mention of the dinar.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains al-Qasim bin Sa'id bin al-Musayyib bin Sharik, and I have not found anyone who has written his biography; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Yazid bin Rabi'ah, who is matruk (abandoned), while Ibn Adi said: I hope there is no harm in him.
