One of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna al-Agharr (may Allah be pleased with him), relates: I prayed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he recited Surah al-Rum.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Suhayl bin Abi Hazm, whom a group declared weak, saying about him: "He is not strong." Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy), and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Abu al-Aliyah relates: The one who heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say this informed me: "Every surah has its own share of bowing (ruku') and prostration (sujud)." The narrator relates: Later I met him and said: "Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar used to recite several surahs in one rak'ah; so do you know who narrated this hadith to you?" He said: "I know him, and I also know how long ago he narrated this hadith to me. He narrated this hadith to me fifty years ago."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Abu al-Aliyah relates: Thirty of the Companions gathered and said: "As for the prayers in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite aloud, we know them; and as for those in which he did not recite aloud, we will not draw an analogy for them from those in which he recited aloud." The narrator relates: Those Companions agreed on this, and not even two of them differed, that in the Zuhr prayer the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite about thirty verses in each of the first two rak'ahs, and in the last two rak'ahs half of that; and in the Asr prayer he used to recite half of what he recited in the first two rak'ahs of Zuhr, and in the last two rak'ahs half of the amount of the last two rak'ahs of Zuhr.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Abdullah al-Mas'udi, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but suffered from mental deterioration (ikhtilat). It is said that Yazid bin Harun heard from him during his deterioration. And Allah knows best.

Sayyidah Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) relates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was praying facing the Corner (of the Ka'bah). This was before (the command of the Qur'an was revealed) that he should openly proclaim what he was commanded, and (at that time) the idolaters were listening to this: "So which of the favours of your Lord will you both deny?"
Ahmad and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir) recorded it; its chain contains Ibn Lahi'ah, about whom there is criticism.

Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There is no prayer without the recitation of Surah al-Fatihah and two verses along with it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. I say: It is in the Sahih, but without these words: "and two verses along with it". Its chain contains al-Hasan bin Yahya al-Khushani, whom al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) declared weak, while Duhaym, Ibn Adi and, in one report, Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy).

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains al-Tabarani's teacher and his teacher's teacher, and I have not found anyone who mentions either of them.
