Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2678

Sayyiduna Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There is no prayer without the recitation of Surah al-Fatihah and two verses along with it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. I say: It is in the Sahih, but without these words: "and two verses along with it". Its chain contains al-Hasan bin Yahya al-Khushani, whom al-Nasa'i (may Allah have mercy on him) and al-Daraqutni (may Allah have mercy on him) declared weak, while Duhaym, Ibn Adi and, in one report, Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
