Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two or more people count as a congregation."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Maslamah bin Ali, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led his Companions in the Zuhr prayer. The narrator states: Then a man from among his Companions came in (to the mosque). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him: "O so-and-so! Why were you not able to join the prayer?" The man mentioned some matter by which he explained his excuse. The narrator says: The man stood up and began to pray, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will someone give charity to this man by praying with him?" So a man stood up and prayed with him.
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration, and Imam Abu Dawud and Imam al-Tirmidhi recorded part of it; the narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.

The narrator states: So a man stood up and prayed with him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "These two are a congregation."
Imam Ahmad recorded this narration. The narrator named al-Walid is not a Companion, and this hadith is munqati' (broken) in its chain.

Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Abd al-Malik Abu Jabir. Abu Hatim says: I met him, and he is not strong in hadith.
Imam al-Bazzar recorded this narration; its chain contains a narrator, al-Husayn bin al-Hasan al-Ashqar, and he is extremely da'if (weak). Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Ismah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had offered the Zuhr prayer and was seated in the mosque. Meanwhile a man came, entered the mosque and began to pray. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Will someone give charity to this man by praying with him?"
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its chain is da'if (weak). No hadith is authentically reported from Sayyiduna Ismah; and Allah knows best.

Thabit reported this, perhaps from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): A man came when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already prayed, and he stood up and began to pray alone. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will trade with this man and pray with him?"
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Hasan. If he is Ibn Zubalah, then he is da'if (weak).
