Ja'far bin Amr al-Damri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I went with Ubaydullah bin Adi bin al-Khiyar to Syria. When we reached Hims, Ubaydullah said to me: Shall we ask Wahshi (may Allah be pleased with him) about the killing of Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him)?
(b) Sulayman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Ubaydullah bin Adi bin al-Khiyar that he said: We were returning from (the land of) the Romans. When we came near Hims, we said: If we pass by Wahshi (may Allah be pleased with him), we will ask him about the killing of Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him). We met a man and mentioned this to him, and he said: He is a man who has been overcome by wine; if you find him sober, you will not ask him about anything but he will tell you, and if you find him drunk, do not ask him. So we went on until we reached him; something had been spread out for him at his door, and he was sitting on it, sober. He said: Ibn al-Khiyar? I said: Yes. He said: I have not seen you since your mother brought you to me at Dhu Tuwa when she gave birth to you; I saw your two feet and recognized them. He said: I said: We have come to you to ask about the killing of Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: I will tell you just as I told the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me. I was a slave of the family of Mut'im, and the nephew of Mut'im said to me: If you kill Hamzah in return for my uncle, you are free. On the day of Uhud I set out with my spear. I was an Abyssinian man, and I used to play with it the way they play. That day I did not go out intending to kill or fight anyone; my only aim was to kill Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him). I went out, and suddenly I saw Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) as though he were an ash-coloured camel; whoever came before him, he finished off with the sword. I was afraid of him. A man of the Banu Siba' rushed towards him ahead of me. I heard Sayyiduna Hamzah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: "O son of the woman who circumcises!" and he went after him and killed him, while I kept taking cover from him. I took cover behind a tree, and I had my spear with me, until, when I had him within my reach, I shook my spear until I was satisfied with it; then I let the spear go, and it struck him between the breasts. He tried to get up but could not, and I killed him. I took my spear; I neither killed anyone else nor fought anyone. When I returned, I was free. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, I intended to flee to Syria, but a man said to me: O Wahshi! Woe to you! By Allah, whoever goes to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and accepts Islam, he (peace and blessings be upon him) leaves him alone. So I went, and before he knew it, I was standing by him (peace and blessings be upon him) bearing the testimony of truth. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is it Wahshi?" I said: Yes, Wahshi. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to you! Tell me about the killing of Hamzah." I told him just as I have told you both. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Wahshi! Hide your face from me, so that I do not see you." Wahshi (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I used to keep away lest the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) see me, until Allah took His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in death. When the affair of Musaylimah took place, I joined the army that was sent against him, and I took my spear. We met (in battle), and I and a man of the Ansar rushed towards him. Your Lord knows best which of us killed him. If I killed him, then I have killed the best of people and the worst of people.
Sulayman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I heard Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying: I too was in the army that day, and I heard someone saying about Musaylimah that the black slave had killed him.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that some people from among the polytheists had killed much and committed adultery much. Then they came to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Tell us the expiation for the deeds we have done. So this verse was revealed: "And those who do not call upon any other deity along with Allah, and do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden except by right, and do not commit adultery." [Surah al-Furqan: 68]
And this verse was revealed: "Say: O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah." [Surah al-Zumar: 53]

Ibn Shimasah al-Mahri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We were present with Sayyiduna Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) at the time of his death. He said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to give him the pledge of allegiance upon Islam. I said: Stretch out your hand, O Messenger of Allah! I want to give you the pledge. He (peace and blessings be upon him) stretched out his hand, and I drew my hand back. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Amr! What is the matter?" I said: I want to make a condition. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What condition do you make?" I said: My condition is that I be forgiven. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Amr! Do you not know that Islam wipes out all the sins that came before it?"

Al-Qasim bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) was struck by an arrow on the day of al-Ta'if, and he died forty days after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He mentioned the story, (saying) that a delegation of Thaqif came to him (Abu Bakr), and this arrow was still with him. He brought the arrow out before the delegation and said: Does any of you recognize this arrow? Sa'id bin Ubayd of Banu al-Ajlan said: I shaped this arrow, and I am the one who shot it. So Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This arrow killed Abdullah bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both). All praise is for the One who honoured him by your hand and did not disgrace you by his hand, for that is better for both of you.
