Abu Bakr bin Muhammad bin Amr bin Hazm (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Amr bin Hazm (may Allah be pleased with him) to Najran, he wrote him a letter in which it said: "For every tooth, five camels; for every finger, ten camels; for the ear, the eye and the foot, fifty camels each; for the nose, when it is cut off from the root, the full blood money; and for a deep head wound and a wound penetrating the abdomen, one third of the blood money."
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It is not correct to say that there is the full blood money for the eye of a one-eyed man, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stated half the blood money for an eye, and the eye of a one-eyed man counts as nothing more than one eye.

Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding a one-eyed man who puts out the eye of a healthy man: Allah Almighty has said in the Qur'an: "The eye for the eye" [Surah al-Ma'idah: 45], so retaliation will be taken from him, even if it is all that remains of his sight.

Abu Mijlaz said: I asked Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about a one-eyed man whose eye is put out. Abdullah bin Safwan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ruled blood money for it. I said: I am asking Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). He said: Is he not telling you the ruling of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)? The apparent meaning is that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) ruled the full blood money for it, but it is also possible that he ruled the blood money of one eye; and what appears from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) is that he did not hold that the full blood money is obligatory.
