Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) calling the talbiyah for both together: 'Labbayka 'umratan wa hajjan, labbayka 'umratan wa hajjan' (Here I am for Umrah and Hajj, here I am for Umrah and Hajj).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) calling the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah together. Bakr bin Abdullah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I told this to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he said: He (peace and blessings be upon him) called the talbiyah for Hajj only. He said: Then I met Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him this, and he said: They regard us as nothing but children! I myself heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: 'Labbayka 'umratan wa hajjah' (Here I am for Umrah and Hajj).
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8829
A man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and asked: What talbiyah did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) call? Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: He called the talbiyah for Hajj only. Then he came the following year and asked him again: How did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) call the talbiyah? He said: Did you not come last year? He said: Of course, but Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) holds that he performed Hajj al-Qiran. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) used to go in among the women while their heads were uncovered, whereas I was beneath the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), its saliva touching me, and I heard him calling the talbiyah for Hajj.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spent the night at Dhu al-Hulayfah until morning came. Then he mounted, and when he reached al-Bayda' he praised Allah, glorified Him and proclaimed His greatness, and called the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah, and the people also called the talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah. When we arrived, he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the people the order and they came out of ihram, until, when it was the Day of Tarwiyah, they called the talbiyah for Hajj. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed seven camels with his own hand while they were standing.

Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed four rak'ahs of Zuhr in Madinah and two rak'ahs of Asr at Dhu al-Hulayfah, and I heard them all calling the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) calling the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah.
Sulayman (bin Harb) said: Abu Qilabah heard this hadith from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), and he is a jurist. Humayd and Yahya bin Abi Ishaq did not preserve it accurately; what is correct is what Abu Qilabah said: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj al-Ifrad, while some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) combined Hajj and Umrah, and Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) heard those who combined Hajj and Umrah.
The Shaykh said: A large group has narrated this hadith, such as Yahya bin Abi Ishaq, and Wuhayb from Ayyub. It was Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) who became confused, so it is to be understood that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) teaching someone else how to call the talbiyah in Hajj al-Qiran.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8833
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed four Umrahs, all of them in Dhu al-Qa'dah except the Umrah that he performed with his Hajj: one Umrah in the year of al-Hudaybiyah in Dhu al-Qa'dah, one Umrah the following year in Dhu al-Qa'dah, one Umrah from al-Ji'ranah when he distributed the spoils of Hunayn, also in Dhu al-Qa'dah, and one Umrah with his Hajj.
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) says this only on the basis of his view that he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj al-Qiran. It has also been narrated from people other than Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), but whether it is established is open to question.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8834
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked how many Umrahs the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed, and he said: Two. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) knows that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed three Umrahs besides the one that he combined with his Hajj.

Mujahid said: Urwah bin al-Zubayr and I entered the mosque, and there was Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sitting by the chamber of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and people in the mosque were praying the Duha prayer. We asked him about the people's prayer, and he said: It is an innovation (bid'ah). Then they asked him: How many Umrahs did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform? He said: Four, one of them in Rajab. We disliked to call him a liar or to contradict him. Then we heard the sound of the Mother of the Believers Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) using the miswak behind the chamber, and Urwah said: O Mother, have you not heard what Abu Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with them both) has said? She said: What has he said? He said: He says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed four Umrahs, one of them in Rajab. She said: May Allah have mercy on Abu Abd al-Rahman (may Allah be pleased with them both)! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform any Umrah but that he was with him in it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) never performed an Umrah in Rajab.

Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and I were sitting leaning against the chamber of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I could hear the sound of her using the miswak. I said: Did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) perform Umrah in Rajab? He said: Yes! I said: O Mother, have you not heard what Abu Abd al-Rahman is saying? He says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah in Rajab. She said: May Allah have mercy on Abu Abd al-Rahman! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform any Umrah but that Abu Abd al-Rahman was with him in it. Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed only three Umrahs: one in Shawwal and two in Dhu al-Qa'dah.
It has also been narrated through Abu Ishaq from Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with them both), but that is not preserved (mahfuz).
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8839
Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed three Umrahs, all three of them in Dhu al-Qa'dah. Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: He knows that he (peace and blessings be upon him) performed four Umrahs, including the Umrah that he performed with his Hajj.
This has also been narrated in the hadith of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), but that is not authentic.

Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed three Hajjs: two Hajjs before the Hijrah, and one Hajj al-Qiran.
How can this be authentic, when the opposite of this has been narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) through several routes regarding the ihram of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? Imam Abu Isa al-Tirmidhi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I asked Imam Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) about this hadith, and he said: This hadith is a mistake; it is only narrated from al-Thawri as mursal. Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: When Zayd bin al-Hubab narrated from memory, he sometimes made a mistake in something. The Shaykh said: This has also been narrated in the hadith of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), but that is not preserved (mahfuz).
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8841
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed four Umrahs: the Umrah of al-Hudaybiyah, the Umrah of al-Qada' the following year, the Umrah from al-Ji'ranah, and the fourth Umrah with his Hajj.
Abu al-Hasan (Ali bin Abd al-Aziz) said: No one says "from Ibn Abbas" in this hadith except Dawud bin Abd al-Rahman. The Shaykh said: Sufyan bin Uyaynah narrated it from Amr bin Dinar from Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah, but this report is mursal. Imam al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Dawud bin Abd al-Rahman is saduq (truthful), except that he sometimes errs in something.

(a) The Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that she said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Why is it that the people have come out of ihram, but you (peace and blessings be upon him) have not come out of ihram from your Umrah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have matted my hair and garlanded my sacrificial animal, so I cannot come out of ihram until I have sacrificed it."
(b) It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what is the matter with the people, that they come out of ihram by means of Umrah, while you have not come out of ihram from your Umrah?

Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Why is it that the people have come out of ihram, but you (peace and blessings be upon him) have not come out of ihram from your Umrah? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have garlanded my sacrificial animal and matted my hair, so I cannot come out of ihram until I come out of ihram from Hajj."
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8844
Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) said regarding the words of Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "and you have not come out of ihram from your Umrah": she meant, from your ihram which you began, while they were (all) upon one intention, and Allah knows best. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have matted my hair and garlanded my sacrificial animal, so I will not come out of ihram until I sacrifice." Meaning, and Allah knows best, until the pilgrim comes out of ihram, because the decision had been revealed to him that whoever had a sacrificial animal with him should make his ihram a Hajj.

Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to come out of ihram on the occasion of the Farewell Hajj, so I said to him: What prevents you (peace and blessings be upon him) from coming out of ihram? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have matted my hair and garlanded my sacrificial animal, and I cannot come out of ihram until I have sacrificed my animal."

Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "While I was at al-Aqiq, Sayyiduna Jibril (peace be upon him) came to me and said: Pray two rak'ahs in this blessed valley, and say: 'Umratun fi hajjah' (an Umrah within a Hajj). For Umrah has indeed entered into Hajj until the Day of Resurrection."

Mutarrif bin Abdullah bin al-Shikhkhir (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said to me: Shall I not tell you something that will benefit you? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) combined Hajj and Umrah, and then he did not forbid it, nor was any Qur'an revealed forbidding it. And the angels used to greet me with salam; when I had myself cauterised they stopped, and when I gave up cauterisation they came back.

Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was with Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made him governor over Yemen. Then he narrated the whole account of Ali's (may Allah be pleased with him) arrival, and said that Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "What did you do?" He said: I said that I too had called the same talbiyah as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have brought the sacrificial animal and have performed Hajj al-Qiran."
This is how it is in this narration: "and I have performed qiran". That is not in the hadith of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) when he described the arrival of Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and his talbiyah, and the hadith of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) has a sounder chain and a better presentation; and the hadith of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) supports the hadith of Jabir.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الحج / 8851
(a) Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) came from Yemen, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "What talbiyah did you call?" He said: The same as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Were it not that I have the sacrificial animal with me, I would have come out of ihram."
(b) In this hadith and in the hadith of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), the reason for his (peace and blessings be upon him) refraining from coming out of ihram is given as his having the sacrificial animal with him, whereas the one performing Hajj al-Qiran does not come out of his ihram until he comes out of both Hajj and Umrah together, whether he has a sacrificial animal or not. This shows that that wording ("and I have performed qiran") is a mistake.

Abu Wa'il (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Masruq (may Allah have mercy on him) and I often used to go to al-Subayy bin Ma'bad (may Allah have mercy on him) to ask him about this matter. He was a Christian who had become Muslim. He called the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah, and Salman bin Rabi'ah and Zayd bin Suhan (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard him calling the talbiyah for Hajj and Umrah at al-Qadisiyyah, and they said: "This man is more astray than his family's camel." He said: Those words of theirs fell upon me like a mountain, until I came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and told him about it. He turned to them and rebuked them, then turned to me and said: "You have been guided to the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
