The virtues of Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) as described by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them)

Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrated that Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) sought permission to visit Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) during her illness. She refused to give him permission, so her nephews said: Give him permission, for he is among the best of your children. She said: Spare me his praise. They kept insisting until she gave him permission. When he entered, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "You were named Mother of the Believers only so that you would be blessed with happiness, and this name was (decreed) for you even before you were born. You were among the most beloved wives of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) loved only what is pure. Between you and meeting your beloved ones there remains nothing but the parting of the soul from the body. On the night at al-Abwa your necklace fell, and Allah brought about good for the Muslims in that and revealed the verse of tayammum. Verses of the Qur'an were revealed concerning you, and there is no mosque of the Muslims in which your vindication (your chastity) is not recited in the hours of the night and the day." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Ibn Abbas! Spare me your praise. I wish that I had been something forgotten, lost to memory."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from al-Aswad that Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not marry me until Jibril (peace be upon him) brought him my image and said: "This is your wife." When he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, I was a girl wearing a "hawf" (a waist-wrap of leather thongs). Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me, Allah placed modesty (as a quality) in me, although I was young. Sufyan said that al-Zuhri said: "Hawf" means the leather thongs that are tied around the middle (the waist).
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: My companions (the other pure wives) asked me to speak to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he would instruct the people to send their gifts to him (peace and blessings be upon him) wherever he (peace and blessings be upon him) happened to be, because the people waited for the day of the turn of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to send their gifts, and we too love good just as Aishah loves it. So I said: O Messenger of Allah! My companions have asked me to speak to you so that you instruct the people to send gifts to you wherever you happen to be, because the people wait for the day of the turn of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to send their gifts, and we too love good just as Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) loves it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent and gave me no reply. Then my companions asked me, and I told them that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had not said anything to me. They said: "By Allah! Do not leave it like this; this is not the time to let it go." She said: Then, when his (peace and blessings be upon him) turn came round to me, I spoke to him again, and I repeated my words two or three times just as the first time. On each of these occasions the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) remained silent. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Salamah! Do not hurt me concerning Aishah, for by Allah, revelation has never come down upon me while I was in the house of any of my wives other than Aishah." She said: So I said: "I seek refuge with Allah from causing you hurt concerning Aishah."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), and I said something, whereupon he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Are you not pleased to be my wife in this world and the Hereafter?" I said: "Of course, by Allah!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you are my wife in this world and the Hereafter."
Abu al-Anbas (Sa'id bin Kathir) is a trustworthy (thiqah) narrator of Madinah, and this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
