أخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيهِ، حَدَّثَنَا موسى بن هارون، حَدَّثَنَا أبو الخطاب زياد بن يحيى الحَسَّاني، حَدَّثَنَا مالك بن سُعير، حَدَّثَنَا إسماعيل بن أبي خالد، أخبرنا عبد الرحمن بن أبي (2) الضحاك: أنَّ عبد الله بن صفوان أتى عائشةَ وآخرُ معه، فقالت عائشةُ لأحدِهما: أسمعتَ حديثَ حفصةَ يا فلان؟ قال: نعم يا أمَّ المؤمنين، فقال لها عبد الله بن صفوان وما ذاكِ يا أمَّ المؤمنين؟ قالت: خِلالٌ لي تسعٌ لم يكنَّ لأحدٍ من النِّساء قبلي إلَّا ما أتى اللهُ ﷿ مريمَ بنتَ عِمران، والله ما أقولُ هذا أنِّي أفخَرُ (3) على أحدٍ من صَواحباتي، فقال لها عبد الله بن صفوان: وما هُنَّ يا أمَّ المؤمنين؟ قالت: جاء المَلَكُ بصورتي إلى رسول الله ﷺ، فتزوَّجني (1) رسولُ الله وأنا ابنةُ سبعِ سنينَ، وأُهديتُ إليه وأنا ابنةُ تسعِ سنينَ، وتزوَّجني بِكرًا لم يَشْرَكهُ فيَّ أحدٌ من الناس، وكان يأتيه الوحيُ وأنا وهو في لِحافٍ واحد، وكنتُ من أحبِّ الناس إليه، ونزل فيَّ آياتٌ من القرآن كادت الأمّةُ تَهْلِكُ فيها، ورأيتُ جبريلَ ﵇ ولم يَرَه أحدٌ من نسائِه غيري، وقُبِضَ في بيتي لم يَلِهِ أحدٌ غيرُ المَلَك إلَّا أنا (2) (3)

It is narrated from Abdullah bin Safwan that he and another man came to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) asked one of them: "O so-and-so! Have you heard what Hafsah related?" He said: "Yes, O Mother of the Believers!" Abdullah bin Safwan asked: "What is that?" She said: "I have nine distinctions that were not given to any woman besides me, except what Allah Almighty gave to Maryam bint Imran, and by Allah, I do not say this to boast over any of my companions: (1) The angel brought my image to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); (2) he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me when I was seven years old; (3) I was sent to his home at the age of nine; (4) he (peace and blessings be upon him) married me as a virgin, and no one other than him had any share in me; (5) revelation would come down upon him (peace and blessings be upon him) even while he (peace and blessings be upon him) and I were under a single blanket; (6) I was among the most beloved of people to him (peace and blessings be upon him); (7) verses of the Qur'an were revealed concerning me over which the Ummah was about to be ruined; (8) I saw Jibril (peace be upon him), while none of his (peace and blessings be upon him) other wives saw him; and (9) he (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away in my house, and apart from the angel, no one was attending him (peace and blessings be upon him) at that time except me."

أخبرني أبو العبّاس محمد بن أحمد المحبوبي، حَدَّثَنَا سعيد بن مسعود، حَدَّثَنَا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا العوَّام بن حَوْشَب، عن سعيد بن جُبير، عن ابن عبّاس: ﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَرْمُونَ الْمُحْصَنَاتِ الْغَافِلَاتِ﴾ [النور: 23] قال: نزلت في عائشةَ خاصةً (1).

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "Indeed, those who accuse chaste, unaware women" [Surah al-Nur: 23], that this verse was revealed specifically about Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her).

أخبرنا أبو بكر أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه ببغداد، حَدَّثَنَا الحسن بن مُكرَم ويحيى بن جعفر بن الزِّبْرَقان قالا: حَدَّثَنَا علي بن عاصم، حَدَّثَنَا خالد الحذَّاء، عن محمد بن سِيرِين، عن الأحنَف بن قيس قال: سمعتُ خطبةَ أبي بكر الصِّدِّيق، وعمر بن الخطاب وعثمان بن عفان وعلي بن أبي طالب والخلفاءِ هلُمَّ جرًّا إلى يومي هذا، فما سمعتُ الكلامَ من فمِ مخلوقٍ أفخمَ ولا أحسنَ منه مِن فِي عائشةَ (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Ahnaf bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "I have heard the sermons of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab, Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan and Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with them), and of the caliphs after them, one after another, up to this very day, yet I have not heard from the mouth of any human being speech more eloquent and more beautiful than the speech of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her)."
