(1). It is narrated from Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Allah Almighty protected me from the trial (fitnah) because of something I had heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). When Kisra (the king of Persia) perished, he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Whom have the Persians made their ruler?" The people said: His daughter. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A people who hand over the reins of their affairs to a woman will never prosper." He says: "So when Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) arrived (on the battlefield), I remembered that saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Allah protected me through it."

It is narrated from Sayyidah Amrah bint Abd al-Rahman that when Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) set out for Basrah, he came to the Mother of the Believers Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) to bid her farewell. She said: "Go in the protection of Allah and under His shelter. By Allah! You are on the truth and the truth is with you. Were it not that I fear disobeying Allah and His Messenger, since he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded us to remain in our houses, I would certainly have gone with you. But by Allah! I will send with you one who is dearer and more precious to me than my own self, namely my son Umar."

It is narrated from Qays bin Abi Hazim that Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and sought permission to go out on jihad. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Stay sitting in your house; you have already taken part in campaigns with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He insisted repeatedly, so on the third time, or the one after it, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Sit in your house. By Allah! I sense, on the outskirts of Madinah, the danger from you and your companions that you will go out (for trial and strife) and spoil the affairs of the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for me."
