It is narrated from Qays bin Abi Hazim that Sayyiduna al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and sought permission to go out on jihad. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Stay sitting in your house; you have already taken part in campaigns with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." He insisted repeatedly, so on the third time, or the one after it, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Sit in your house. By Allah! I sense, on the outskirts of Madinah, the danger from you and your companions that you will go out (for trial and strife) and spoil the affairs of the Companions of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) for me."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is "hasan" on account of Isma'il bin Musa al-Suddi, and he is corroborated on part of it. (1944). Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar (332) narrated it likewise through the route of Ishaq bin Mansur, from Abd al-Salam bin Harb, but without al-Zubayr's repeated asking of permission and without Umar's reply at the end. Grading: Its chain is sahih (Ibn Hajar: Mukhtasar Zawa'id al-Bazzar 1944).
