إِنَّمَا سَمَّى اللَّهُ الْبَيْتَ الْعَتِيقَ لِأَنَّهُ أَعْتَقَهُ مِنَ الْجَبَابِرَةِ

أخبرني إسماعيل بن محمد بن الفضل الشَّعْراني، حدثنا جدِّي، حدثنا عبد الله بن صالح حدثنا الليث بن سعد، عن عبد الرحمن بن خالد بن مُسافِر، عن الزُّهْري، عن محمد بن عُروة بن الزُّبير، عن عمِّه عبد الله بن الزُّبير، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "إنما سمَّى اللهُ البيتَ العتيقَ، لأنه أعتَقَه من الجبابرة، فلم يَظهَرْ عليه جبَّارٌ قطُّ" (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty named the House of Allah al-Bayt al-Atiq (the Ancient, or Free, House) because Allah kept it free from the domination of tyrants and oppressors, so no tyrant has ever been able to prevail over it."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith 3507

أخبرنا أبو زكريا العَنبَري، حدثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدثنا إسحاق، أخبرنا جَرير، عن الأعمش، ومنصور، عن أبي ظَبْيان، عن ابن عبَّاس قال: قلت له: قولُه ﷿: ﴿وَالْبُدْنَ جَعَلْنَاهَا لَكُمْ مِنْ شَعَائِرِ اللَّهِ لَكُمْ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ فَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهَا صَوَافَّ﴾ [الحج: 36]، قال: إذا (1) أردتَ أن تَنحَرَ البَدَنَةَ فأَقِمْها ثم قل: الله أكبر، الله أكبر، منكَ ولك، ثم سَمِّ، ثم انحَرْها، قال: قلت: وأقول ذلك في الأُضْحيَّة؟ قال: والأُضحيَّةُ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this statement of Allah Almighty: "And the camels (for sacrifice) We have made for you among the symbols of Allah; for you therein is good. So mention the name of Allah upon them when lined up (standing)" [Surah al-Hajj: 36], that he said: When you intend to slaughter the sacrificial camel (by nahr), make it stand, then say: 'Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, minka wa lak' (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; (O Allah,) this is from You and for You). Then say Bismillah and slaughter it. The narrator says: I asked: "Should I say these same words for the Eid sacrifice (of smaller animals) too?" He said: "Yes, for the Eid sacrifice as well."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Hadith 3508

أخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله البزَّاز ببغداد، حدثنا محمد بن مَسلَمة الواسطي، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا سلَّام بن مِسْكين، عن عائذ الله بن عبد الله المُجاشِعي، عن أبي داود السَّبيعي، عن زيد بن أرقَمَ قال: قلنا: يا رسول الله، ما هذه الأضاحيُّ؟ قال: "سُنَّةُ أبيكم إبراهيمَ"، قال: قلنا: فما لنا منها؟ قال: "بكلِّ شَعرةٍ حَسَنةٌ"، قال: قلنا: يا رسول الله، فالصُّوفُ؟ قال: "بكلِّ شَعرةٍ من الصُّوف حَسَنةٌ" (3).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that we said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are these sacrifices?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (peace be upon him)." We said: "What reward is there for us in them?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For every hair of the animal there is a good deed." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what about wool?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For every hair of wool there is also a good deed."
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
