It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning this statement of Allah Almighty: "And the camels (for sacrifice) We have made for you among the symbols of Allah; for you therein is good. So mention the name of Allah upon them when lined up (standing)" [Surah al-Hajj: 36], that he said: When you intend to slaughter the sacrificial camel (by nahr), make it stand, then say: 'Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar, minka wa lak' (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; (O Allah,) this is from You and for You). Then say Bismillah and slaughter it. The narrator says: I asked: "Should I say these same words for the Eid sacrifice (of smaller animals) too?" He said: "Yes, for the Eid sacrifice as well."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) In the manuscripts it is "fa-idha" and the word "qala" is dropped; we have corrected it from the printed edition and from al-Bayhaqi's "al-Sunan al-Kubra" (9/ 287).

Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi (9/ 287) narrated it through al-Hakim.
Reference / Source: Waki' (Nuskhah an al-A'mash: 3), al-Bayhaqi (5/ 237), and al-Tabari (17/ 163-164) via Jabir bin Nuh narrated it; both of them narrated it from al-A'mash.
Note / Clarification: It will come with the author at (7762) via Shu'bah from al-A'mash.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabari (17/ 164) and al-Tabarani (951) narrated it from Sufyan al-Thawri from al-A'mash.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): They did not mention "Bismillah" and added the "tahlil" (La ilaha illa Allah), which is a "shadh" (anomalous) addition.
