It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) that we said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are these sacrifices?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is the Sunnah of your father Ibrahim (peace be upon him)." We said: "What reward is there for us in them?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For every hair of the animal there is a good deed." We said: "O Messenger of Allah, and what about wool?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For every hair of wool there is also a good deed."
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (3) Its chain is "extremely weak" (da'if jiddan). Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Dawud al-Sabi'i (Nufay' bin al-Harith al-A'war) is "matruk al-hadith" (abandoned in hadith). A'idh Allah is "da'if", and Muhammad bin Maslamah also has weakness but he is corroborated. Al-Dhahabi in "al-Talkhis" attributed the defect to A'idh Allah but overlooked the real bane, "Abu Dawud al-Sabi'i". Reference / Source: Ahmad (32/ 19283) narrated it from Yazid bin Harun. Reference / Source: Ibn Majah (3127) narrated it via Adam bin Abi Iyas, from Sallam bin Miskin.
