The prohibition of reviling the dead

Ziyad bin Ilaqah narrates from his paternal uncle that Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke ill of Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), so Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up towards him and said: O Mughirah! Do you not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade reviling the dead? Why then are you reviling Ali when he has passed away?
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but they did not record it in this way. However, both of them (Bukhari and Muslim) agreed upon the hadith of al-A'mash from Mujahid from Sayyidah Aishah that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not revile the dead, for they have reached (the outcome of) the deeds they sent forth."

Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not hurt a Muslim by abusing a (deceased) disbeliever."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Mention the good qualities of your dead, and restrain your tongues from their faults."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs did not record it. These are hadiths that I found in this chapter after the copying of the Book of Funerals, and they ought to have been recorded earlier in their proper places.

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not consider your dead impure, for a Muslim does not become impure, whether alive or dead."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.
