أخبرنا أبو محمد عبد الله بن محمد بن إسحاق الخُزاعي بمكة، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن أبي مَسَرّة، حدثنا عبد الله بن يزيد المُقرئُ، حدثنا سعيد بن أبي أيوب، عن شُرَحْبيل بن شَرِيكَ المَعافِري، عن عُلَيِّ بن رباح اللَّخْمي، عن أبي رافع قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "من غَسّل ميّتًا فكَتَم عليه، غُفِر له أربعين مرةً، ومن كفَّن ميتًا، كَسَاه الله من سُندسِ وإسْتَبرقِ الجنة، ومن حَفَر لميتٍ قبرًا وأَجنَّه فيه، أُجريَ له من الأجر كأجرِ مَسْكَنٍ سَكَّنه إلى يوم القيامة" (1). هذا حديث صحيحٌ على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.
Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever washes a deceased person and conceals (his faults), Allah Almighty will forgive him forty times; whoever shrouds a deceased person, Allah Almighty will clothe him in garments of the fine and thick silk of Paradise; and whoever digs a grave for a deceased person and buries him in it, a reward will be kept flowing for him until the Day of Resurrection, as though he had given him a house to live in."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو العباس محمد بن أحمد المحبوبي بمَرْو، حدثنا سعيد بن مسعود، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق. وأخبرنا يحيى بن منصور القاضي، حدثنا محمد بن محمد بن رجاء بن السِّنْدي، حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم، حدثنا إسماعيل ابن عُلَيّة، عن محمد بن إسحاق، عن يزيد بن أبي حَبِيب، عن مَرْثَد بن عبد الله اليَزَني، عن مالك بن هُبَيرة - وكانت له صحبة - قال: كان إذا أُتي بجنازةٍ ليُصلِّي عليها، فتقالَّ أهلَها، جزّأَهم صفوفًا ثلاثة، فصلَّى بهم عليها، ويقول: إنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "ما صَفَّ صفوفٌ ثلاثةٌ من المسلمين على جنازةٍ، إلَّا أَوجَبَته". هذا لفظ حديث ابن عُلَيّة، وفي حديث المحبوبي: "إلّا غُفِر له" (2). هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.
It is reported from Sayyiduna Malik bin Hubayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever a funeral was brought to him and those attending were few, he would arrange them into three rows, then lead the funeral prayer over it, and he would say that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whichever Muslim has three rows formed at his funeral, (Paradise) becomes obligatory for him." The wording of Ibn Ulayyah's narration is "awjabathu" (it made it obligatory), while in al-Mahbubi's narration the wording is "illa ghufira lahu" (except that he is forgiven).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

حدثنا أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالَوَيه حدثنا بِشْر بن موسى، حدثنا محمد بن سعيد الأصبهاني، حدثنا شَرِيك، عن عبد الله بن عيسى بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، عن عبد الله بن جَبْر (1)، عن أنس بن مالكٍ، قال: كان غلامٌ يهوديٌّ يَخدُمُ النبي ﷺ، فمَرِض فعاده، وقال: "قل: أشهدُ أن لا إله إلّا الله وأنكَ رسول الله" فنظر الغلامُ إلى أبيه فقال: قل ما يقولُ لك محمد. قال: فلمَّا مات، قال رسول الله ﷺ: "صَلُّوا على أخيكُم" (2). هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Jewish boy used to serve the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He fell ill, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) went to visit him and said: "Say: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and (say about me) that you are the Messenger of Allah." The boy looked at his father, and the father said: "Accept what Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is saying." When the boy died (after reciting the testimony), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Offer the funeral prayer over this brother of yours."

أخبرنا أحمد بن سَلْمان بن الحسن الفقيه، حدثنا الحسن بن مُكْرَم، حدثنا رَوْح بن عُبادة، حدثنا سعيد بن عبيد الله بن جُبَير بن حَيَّة، حدثني عمِّي زياد بن جُبَير بن حيَّة، حدثني أبي جُبَير بن حيَّة الثقفي، أنه سَمِع المغيرة بن شعبةَ يقول: سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "الراكبُ خلفَ الجنازةِ، والماشي قريبًا منها، والطفل يُصلَّى عليه (3). رواه يونس بن عُبيد عن زياد بن جُبَير:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The rider should go behind the funeral, the one walking should stay close to it, and the funeral prayer is also to be offered over a child."

أخبرَناه علي بن حمشاذَ العَدْل، حدثنا إبراهيم بن أبي طالب، حدثنا محمد بن بشار، حدثنا أبو همَّام محمد بن الزِّبْرِقان، حدثنا يونس بن عُبيد، عن زياد بن جُبَير بن حيَّة، عن أبيه، عن المغيرة بن شعبة - قال يونس: وحدثني بعضُ أهله أنه رَفَعَه إلى النبي ﷺ قال: الراكبُ يَسيرُ خلفَ الجنازةِ، والماشي عن يَمينِها وشِمالِها قريبًا (1)، والسِّقْط يُصلَّى عليه ويُدعَى لوالديه بالعافيةِ والرَّحمة (2). قال إبراهيم بن أبي طالب في عَقِب هذا الحديث: قولُ (3) يُونُس بن عُبيد: "وحدثني بعضُ أهله أنه رَفَعه إلى النبي ﷺ" روايةٌ ليونُسَ بن عُبيد عن سعيد بن عُبيدِ الله بن جُبير بن حَيَّة. هذا حديث صحيح على شرط البخاري، فقد احتجَّ في "الصحيح" بحديث المعتمِر، عن سعيد بن عُبيد الله، عن زياد بن جُبَير، عن جُبَير بن حيَّة، عن المغيرة، الحديث الطويل (4). وشاهد هذه الأحاديث حديثُ إسماعيل بن مُسلِم المكي عن أبي الزُّبير:
It is reported from Sayyiduna al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The rider should go behind the funeral, and the one walking should walk close to it on its right and left; and the funeral prayer is also to be offered over a miscarried child (siqt: an incompletely formed child born dead), and supplication is to be made for its parents for well-being and mercy."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Bukhari, since in his Sahih he recorded a long hadith with this same chain through the narration of al-Mu'tamir.
