It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the time of death drew near for Adam (peace be upon him), he said to his sons: O my sons! Go and pick some of the fruits of Paradise for me." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So his sons set out, and on the way the angels met them. The angels asked: O sons of Adam! Where are you heading? They said: Our father has sent us to pick some of the fruits of Paradise for him. The angels said: Go back, for your task has been taken care of." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So they returned with them until they entered upon Adam (peace be upon him). When Hawwa' (peace be upon her) saw them, she was frightened and began drawing close to Adam (peace be upon him) and clinging to him. At this Adam (peace be upon him) said to her: Keep away from me, move away from me; it was because of you that I was put (to trial). Get out from between me and the angels of my Lord." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "So the angels took his soul, then they washed him, applied perfume to him, and shrouded him." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then the angels offered the funeral prayer over him, dug a grave for him, and buried him. Then the angels said: O sons of Adam! This is your practice (sunnah) regarding your dead, so do likewise."
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs did not record it. It is of the type in which only a single narrator is found reporting from the Tabi'i, for no one other than al-Hasan al-Basri narrates from Utayy bin Damrah al-Sa'di. In my view, the two Shaykhs identified another hidden defect ('illah) in it, namely that this narration is also reported from al-Hasan al-Basri without mention of Utayy:

Hadith Grading
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Adam (peace be upon him) was a tall man." Then the narrator mentioned a long hadith, and at its end he stated that Adam (peace be upon him) said: "Get out from between me and the messengers (angels) of my Lord, for it is because of you that this (trial) came upon me. Then the angels took his soul, washed him three times with water and lote-tree leaves, shrouded him, prayed over him, and buried him. Then the angels said: This is the practice (sunnah) of your children after you."
This narration does not constitute a defect ('illah) in the hadith of Yunus bin Ubayd, because he knew the hadith of al-Hasan al-Basri better than the people of Madinah and Egypt. And Allah knows best.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited a sick man who was suffering from the heat of fever, and Abu Hurayrah was with him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rejoice, for Allah Almighty says: 'It is My fire which I impose upon My believing servant in this world, so that it becomes (a substitute for) his share of the Fire in the Hereafter.'"
This hadith has an authentic chain (sahih al-isnad), but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was struck by severe pain, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) began tossing and turning restlessly on his bed. I said: O Messenger of Allah! If one of us had done this, you would have shown displeasure with him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the believer is subjected to hardship, and there is no believer who is struck by a calamity or a pain except that Allah removes a sin from him in return for it and raises his rank."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.
