Hadith 5644
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، وَأَسْوَدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُصْمٍ أَبِي عَلْوَانَ الْحَنَفِيّ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ فِي ثَقِيفٍ كَذَّابًا وَمُبِيرًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the tribe of Thaqif there will be a destructive person and a liar."
Hadith 5645
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَدْخُلُوا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ ، إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونُوا بَاكِينَ ، أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Enter the lands of the punished nations weeping, for I fear that the same punishment that befell them may befall you as well."
Hadith 5646
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ ، لَا يَظْلِمُهُ وَلَا يُسْلِمُهُ ، مَنْ كَانَ فِي حَاجَةِ أَخِيهِ ، كَانَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي حَاجَتِهِ ، وَمَنْ فَرَّجَ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ كُرْبَةً ، فَرَّجَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا ، سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every Muslim is a brother to another Muslim; he does not oppress him nor does he hand him over to the enemy. Whoever is engaged in fulfilling his brother's needs, Allah Almighty is engaged in fulfilling his needs. Whoever removes a difficulty from a Muslim, Allah Almighty will remove his difficulty on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever conceals the faults of a Muslim, Allah Almighty will conceal his faults on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 5647
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ كَشَجَرَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ سورة إبراهيم آية 24 قَالَ : " هِيَ الَّتِي لَا تَنْفُضُ وَرَقَهَا " ، وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهَا النَّخْلَةُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding «كشجرة طيبة» that it is the tree whose leaves do not fall, and I think that it is the date-palm tree.
Hadith 5648
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ مَا أَسْكَرَ كَثِيرُهُ فَقَلِيلُهُ حَرَامٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Every intoxicating thing is forbidden, and whatever intoxicates in large quantity, its small quantity is also forbidden."
Hadith 5649
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثُوَيْرٌ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " لَعَنَ الْمُخَنَّثِينَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ ، وَالْمُتَرَجِّلَاتِ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed men who imitate women and women who imitate men.
Hadith 5650
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنِ الْوَحْدَةِ أَنْ يَبِيتَ الرَّجُلُ وَحْدَهُ ، أَوْ يُسَافِرَ وَحْدَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade spending the night alone or traveling alone.
Hadith 5651
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ مُلْتَمِسًا ، فَلْيَلْتَمِسْ فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، وَإِنْ ضَعُفَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَوْ غُلِبَ ، فَلَا يُغْلَبْ عَلَى السَّبْعِ الْبَوَاقِي " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever seeks Laylat al-Qadr should seek it in the last ten nights; if he is unable or becomes weak, then he should not let the last seven nights overpower him."
Hadith 5652
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُوحٍ قُرَادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ " نَهَى عَنْ تَلَقِّي السِّلَعِ حَتَّى يُهْبَطَ بِهَا الْأَسْوَاقُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade meeting traders before their goods reached the market.
Hadith 5653
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُوحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ وَهُمْ فِي طَرِيقِ الْحَجِّ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : أَلَسْتَ فُلَانَ بْنَ فُلَانٍ ؟ قَالَ : بَلَى ، قَالَ : فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى حِمَارٍ كَانَ يَسْتَرِيحُ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا مَلَّ رَاحِلَتَهُ ، وَعِمَامَةٍ كَانَ يَشُدُّ بِهَا رَأْسَهُ ، فَدَفَعَهَا إِلَى الْأَعْرَابِيِّ ، فَلَمَّا انْطَلَقَ ، قَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُنَا : انْطَلَقْتَ إِلَى حِمَارِكَ الَّذِي كُنْتَ تَسْتَرِيحُ عَلَيْهِ ، وَعِمَامَتِكَ الَّتِي كُنْتَ تَشُدُّ بِهَا رَأْسَكَ ، فَأَعْطَيْتَهُمَا هَذَا الْأَعْرَابِيَّ ، وَإِنَّمَا كَانَ هَذَا يَرْضَى بِدِرْهَمٍ ! قَالَ : إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ أَبَرَّ الْبِرِّ ، صِلَةُ الْمَرْءِ أَهْلَ وُدِّ أَبِيهِ بَعْدَ أَنْ يُوَلِّيَ " .
Abdullah bin Dinar (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once a Bedouin passed by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who was going for Hajj. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked the Bedouin, "Are you not so-and-so, son of so-and-so?" He replied, "Yes, indeed." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) went to his donkey, which he used to rest on when he became tired of riding, and took his turban, with which he used to tie his head, and gave both of these things to the Bedouin. When he left, one of us asked him, "You gave your donkey, on which you used to rest, and the turban, which you used to tie on your head, to this Bedouin, whereas he would have been pleased even with a single dirham?" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that the greatest act of goodness is that a person maintains ties with his father's friends after his father has passed away."
Hadith 5654
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا قُرَادٌ أَبُو نُوحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا جَلَبَ وَلَا جَنَبَ وَلَا شِغَارَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not correct for the collector of zakat to stay at a distance and call the zakat payers, nor is it correct for the zakat payers to bring the collector of zakat forward or backward from his appointed place. And there is no validity in Islam for exchange marriages (watay satay ke nikah)."
Hadith 5655
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا قُرَادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " حَمَى النَّقِيعَ لِخَيْلِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) made Naqi’ the pasture for his horses.
Hadith 5656
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا قُرَادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " سَبَّقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ الْخَيْلِ ، وَأَعْطَى السَّابِقَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) held a horse race competition and gave a prize to the winner.
Hadith 5657
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا قُرَادٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يَجْلِسُ بَيْنَ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit for a short while between the two Friday sermons.
Hadith 5658
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، " أَنَّ امْرَأَةً وُجِدَتْ فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَقْتُولَةً ، فَأَنْكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَتْلَ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a slain woman in one of the battles, so he disapproved of it and forbade the killing of women and children.
Hadith 5659
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ مُسْتَقْبِلٌ الْمَشْرِقَ يَقُولُ : " أَلَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَاهُنَا أَلَا إِنَّ الْفِتْنَةَ هَاهُنَا ، مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while his face was towards the east, saying: "Behold, the trial will be from here, the trial will be from here, where the horn of Satan emerges."
Hadith 5660
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْبَهِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray on a mat.
Hadith 5661
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْحَنَفِيِّ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أُرَاهُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ مَثَّلَ بِذِي رُوحٍ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُبْ ، مَثَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever mutilates a living being and does not repent, Allah Almighty will do the same to him on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 5662
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ مُحَارِبِ بْنِ دِثَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، " اتَّقُوا الظُّلْمَ ، فَإِنَّهُ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Beware of oppression, for oppression will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 5663
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " يُصَلِّي الْعِيدَيْنِ : الْأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرَ ، ثُمَّ يَخْطُبُ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead the prayer before the sermon on the occasions of the two Eids, and then he would deliver the sermon after the prayer.
Hadith 5664
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ وَهُوَ الْأَعْشَى ، عَنْ مُهَاجِرٍ الشَّامِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ لَبِسَ ثَوْبَ شُهْرَةٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، أَلْبَسَهُ اللَّهُ ثَوْبَ مَذَلَّةٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wears a garment of fame in this world, Allah will clothe him with a garment of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 5665
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُصْمٍ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ فِي ثَقِيفٍ كَذَّابًا وَمُبِيرًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "In the tribe of Thaqif there will be a destructive person and a liar."
Hadith 5666
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أُسَامَةُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدِمَ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ، فَسَمِعَ نِسَاءً مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَلْكَاهُنَّ ، فَقَالَ : " لَكِنْ حَمْزَةُ لَا بَوَاكِيَ لَهُ " ، فَجِئْنَ نِسَاءُ الْأَنْصَارِ يَبْكِينَ عَلَى حَمْزَةَ عِنْدَهُ ، فَاسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُنَّ يَبْكِينَ ، فَقَالَ : " يَا وَيْحَهُنَّ ! أَنْتُنَّ هَاهُنَا تَبْكِينَ حَتَّى الْآنَ ؟ ! مُرُوهُنَّ فَلْيَرْجِعْنَ وَلَا يَبْكِينَ عَلَى هَالِكٍ بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the Battle of Uhud, the women of the Ansar began to weep over their husbands who had been martyred. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no one to weep for Hamza." So some women from the Ansar came and began to weep over Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) fell asleep, and when he woke up, those women were still weeping in the same way. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Alas for them, are you still sitting here and weeping? Tell them to go back, and after today, do not weep over anyone who dies."
Hadith 5667
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ ثَابِتِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُنِيبٍ الْجُرَشِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بُعِثْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ السَّاعَةِ بِالسَّيْفِ حَتَّى يُعْبَدَ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، وَجُعِلَ رِزْقِي تَحْتَ ظِلِّ رُمْحِي ، وَجُعِلَ الذُّلُّ وَالصَّغَارُ عَلَى مَنْ خَالَفَ أَمْرِي ، وَمَنْ تَشَبَّهَ بِقَوْمٍ فَهُوَ مِنْهُمْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been sent with the sword near the Hour so that only Allah, Who has no partner, may be worshipped. My sustenance has been placed under the shadow of my spear. Humiliation has been decreed for those who oppose my commands, and whoever imitates a people will be counted among them."
Hadith 5668
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : مَرَّتْ بِنَا جِنَازَةٌ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : لَوْ قُمْتَ بِنَا مَعَهَا ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي ، فَقَبَضَ عَلَيْهَا قَبْضًا شَدِيدًا ، فَلَمَّا دَنَوْنَا مِنَ الْمَقَابِرِ سَمِعَ رَنَّةً مِنْ خَلْفِهِ ، وَهُوَ قَابِضٌ عَلَى يَدِي ، فَاسْتَدَار بِي فَاسْتَقْبَلَهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا شَرًّا ، وَقَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُتْبَعَ جِنَازَةٌ مَعَهَا رَنَّةٌ " .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once a funeral passed by us, and Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: "Come, let us go with it." Saying this, he held my hand firmly. When we reached near the graveyard, the sound of someone weeping was heard from behind. At that time, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was still holding my hand. He turned back with me and stood in front of the woman who was weeping, rebuked her harshly, and said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has forbidden any weeping woman from going with the funeral.
Hadith 5669
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، وَكَانَ عُمَرُ يَأْمُرُنَا بِالْمُقَامِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ حَيْثُ يَرَاهَُا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood on Safa and Marwah, and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to command us to stand on Safa and Marwah at the place from where the Ka'bah could be seen.
Hadith 5670
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ فِيمَا دُونَ خَمْسٍ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ ، وَلَا خَمْسِ أَوَاقٍ ، وَلَا خَمْسَةِ أَوْسَاقٍ صَدَقَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no zakat on less than five camels, less than five awqiyah of silver, or less than five wasq."
Hadith 5671
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَقِيلٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الثُّمَالِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَجْلَانِ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ الْكَافِرَ لَيَجُرُّ لِسَانَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَرَاءَهُ قَدْرَ فَرْسَخَيْنِ ، يَتَوَطَّؤُهُ النَّاسُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, saying: On the Day of Resurrection, the disbeliever will be dragging his tongue behind him for a distance of two farsakh, and people will be trampling over it.
Hadith 5672
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ ، عَنْ بَرَكَةَ بْنِ يَعْلَى التَّيْمِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سُوَيْدٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْنَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، فَجَلَسْنَا بِبَابِهِ لِيُؤْذَنَ لَنَا ، قال : فَأَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا الْإِذْنُ ، قَالَ : فَقُمْتُ إِلَى جُحْرٍ فِي الْبَابِ ، فَجَعَلْتُ أَطَّلِعُ فِيهِ ، فَفَطِنَ بِي ، فَلَمَّا أَذِنَ لَنَا جَلَسْنَا ، فَقَالَ : أَيُّكُمْ اطَّلَعَ آنِفًا فِي دَارِي ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَنَا ، قَالَ : بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ اسْتَحْلَلْتَ أَنْ تَطَّلِعَ فِي دَارِي ؟ ! قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا الْإِذْنُ ، فَنَظَرْتُ ، فَلَمْ أَتَعَمَّدْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ سَأَلُوهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " بُنِيَ الْإِسْلَامُ عَلَى خَمْسٍ : شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ ، وَحَجِّ الْبَيْتِ ، وَصِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ " ، قُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، مَا تَقُولُ فِي الْجِهَادِ ؟ قَالَ : مَنْ جَاهَدَ ، فَإِنَّمَا يُجَاهِدُ لِنَفْسِهِ .
Abu Suwaid Abdi says that once we went to the service of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and sat at the door of his house waiting for permission. When the permission was delayed, I started peeking through a hole in the door of his house. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) found out. So when we were granted permission and went inside and sat down, he said: Just now, who among you peeked into the house? I admitted it. He said: How did it become lawful for you to peek into my house? I said: When the permission was delayed, I looked, and that too not intentionally. After that, the companions asked him some questions. He said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Islam is built on five things: bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah, establishing prayer, giving zakat, performing Hajj to the House of Allah, and fasting in Ramadan. I said: O Abu Abdur Rahman! What do you say about jihad? He said: Whoever strives, he strives for himself.
Hadith 5673
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " رُبَّمَا ذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ ، وَأَنَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَسْتَسْقِي ، فَمَا يَنْزِلُ حَتَّى يَجِيشَ كُلُّ مِيزَابٍ " ، وَأَذْكُرُ قَوْلَ الشَّاعِرِ : وَأَبْيَضَ يُسْتَسْقَى الْغَمَامُ بِوَجْهِه ثِمَالُ الْيَتَامَى عِصْمَةٌ لِلْأَرَامِلِ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that sometimes when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would sit on the pulpit and supplicate for rain, before he would even descend, all the streams would begin to flow. At that moment, when I would look at the beautiful face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I would remember this verse of poetry: "That fair-skinned one, whose very being is made a means to supplicate for rain from the clouds, and he is the one who is the refuge of orphans and the protector of widows." It should be noted that this verse was said by Abu Talib in praise of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 5674
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ ، قال عبد الله بن أحمد : قَالَ أَبِي : وَهُوَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ ، صَالِحُ الْحَدِيثِ ، ثِقَةٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَمْزةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ فُلَانًا ، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنِ الْحَارِثَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ ، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ سُهَيْلَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ أُمَيَّةَ " ، قَالَ : فَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنَ الأَمْرِ شَيْءٌ أَوْ يَتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمْ أَوْ يُعَذِّبَهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ ظَالِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 128 ، قَالَ : فَتِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ كُلِّهِمْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once supplicating against certain people, saying: "O Allah! Send Your curse upon so-and-so. O Allah! Send Your curse upon Harith bin Hisham, Suhail bin Amr, and Safwan bin Umayyah." Then this verse was revealed: "You have no authority in this matter, whether Allah turns to them or punishes them, for they are wrongdoers." Thus, Allah turned towards all of them and they accepted Islam.
Hadith 5675
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نُعْمٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ ، فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ : مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ ، قَالَ : هَا ، انْظُرُوا إِلَى هَذَا ! يَسْأَلُ عَنْ دَمِ الْبَعُوضِ ، وَقَدْ قَتَلُوا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَقُولُ هُمَا رَيْحَانَتِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا " ! ! .
Ibn Abi Nu'm says that once, in my presence, a man asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) this question: If a person in the state of ihram kills a fly, what is the ruling? Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked him, "Where are you from?" He replied, "From Iraq." He said, "Amazing! Look at this—these people of Iraq come to me and ask about killing a fly, while they killed the grandson of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) without asking anyone, even though I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say about his two grandsons that both of them are my sweet basil from this world."
Hadith 5676
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ نَزَعَ يَدَهُ مِنَ الطَّاعَةِ ، فَلَا حُجَّةَ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ مُفَارِقًا لِلْجَمَاعَةِ ، مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever withdraws his hand from obedience to the rightful ruler of the time, no argument of his will be accepted on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever dies having separated from the community, he dies the death of ignorance.
Hadith 5677
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ فِي قُرَيْشٍ مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ النَّاسِ اثْنَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The caliphate will remain among the Quraysh as long as two men (are in agreement and united)."
Hadith 5678
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ أَبِي الصَّهْبَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا نَافِعٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَادَى فِي النَّاسِ : الصَّلَاةُ جَامِعَةٌ ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ جَوَادًا ، فَأَلْقَى ثِيَابًا كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ ، وَلَبِسَ ثِيَابًا كَانَ يَأْتِي فِيهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ انْحَدَرَ مِنْ مِنْبَرِهِ ، وَقَامَ النَّاسُ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : مَا أَحْدَثَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْيَوْمَ ؟ قَالُوا : " نَهَى عَنِ النَّبِيذِ ، قَالَ : أَيُّ النَّبِيذِ ؟ قَالَ : نَهَى عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالنَّقِيرِ " ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لِنَافِعٍ فَالْجَرَّةُ ؟ قَالَ : وَمَا الْجَرَّةُ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : الْحَنْتَمَةُ ، قَالَ : وَمَا الْحَنْتَمَةُ ؟ قُلْتُ : الْقُلَّةُ ، قَالَ : لَا ، قُلْتُ : فَالْمُزَفَّتُ ؟ قَالَ : وَمَا الْمُزَفَّتُ ؟ قُلْتُ : الزِّقُّ يُزَفَّتُ ، وَالرَّاقُودُ يُزَفَّتُ ، قَالَ : لَا ، لَمْ يَنْهَ يَوْمَئِذٍ إِلَّا عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالنَّقِيرِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had the call of "As-Salat Jami'ah" announced among the people. When Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) found out, he rode his horse and reached his house. He took off the clothes he was wearing, because he would not go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in those clothes, and after changing into other clothes, he set out towards the mosque. At that time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was descending from the pulpit and the people were standing before him. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked the people, "Has the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) given any new command today?" The people informed him that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had prohibited nabidh. He asked, "Which nabidh?" The people replied, "The one prepared in gourds and wooden vessels." The narrator says that I asked Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him), "What is the ruling about jarrah?" He said, "What is jarrah?" I said, "Hantamah." He asked, "What is hantamah?" I said, "A clay pot." He said, "There is no prohibition regarding it." I asked, "What is the ruling about muzaffat?" He asked, "What is muzaffat?" I explained, "It is a waterskin that is coated with pitch." He said, "On that day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) only forbade (nabidh) from gourds and wooden vessels."
Hadith 5679
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الصَّهْبَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ نَفَرٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا هَؤُلَاءِ ، " أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا : بَلَى ، نَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " أَلَسْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَنْزَلَ فِي كِتَابِهِ مَنْ أَطَاعَنِي فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ ؟ " قَالُوا : بَلَى ، نَشْهَدُ أَنَّهُ مَنْ أَطَاعَكَ فَقَدْ أَطَاعَ اللَّهَ ، وَأَنَّ مِنْ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ طَاعَتَكَ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنَّ مِنْ طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ أَنْ تُطِيعُونِي وَإِنَّ مِنْ طَاعَتِي أَنْ تُطِيعُوا أَئِمَّتَكُمْ ، أَطِيعُوا أَئِمَّتَكُمْ ، فَإِنْ صَلَّوْا قُعُودًا فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that one day he was sitting with some of the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said: "O people! Do you not know that I have come to you as the Messenger of Allah?" The people replied: "Why not, we bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you not know that Allah Almighty has revealed in His Book a command of this nature that whoever obeys me, it is as though he has obeyed Allah?" The people replied: "Why not, we bear witness that whoever obeys you, obeys Allah; your obedience is the obedience of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then it is also a part of Allah's obedience that you obey me, and it is a part of my obedience that you obey your leaders. Obey your leaders; if they pray sitting, then you also pray sitting."
Hadith 5680
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " الْمَسْأَلَةُ كُدُوحٌ فِي وَجْهِ صَاحِبِهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، فَمَنْ شاء فَلْيَسْتَبْقِ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ، وَأَهْوَنُ الْمَسْأَلَةِ مَسْأَلَةُ ذِي الرَّحِمِ ، تَسْأَلُهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ ، وَخَيْرُ الْمَسْأَلَةِ الْمَسْأَلَةُ عَنْ ظَهْرِ غِنًى ، وَابْدَأْ بِمَنْ تَعُولُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be scratches on the face of the one who begs on the Day of Resurrection, so whoever wishes, let him save his face. The lightest form of asking is to ask a close relative due to some need, and the best asking is that which is done with contentment of the heart. And you should begin giving to those whom you are responsible for."
Hadith 5681
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " لَنْ يَزَالَ الْمَرْءُ فِي فُسْحَةٍ مِنْ دِينِهِ مَا لَمْ يُصِبْ دَمًا حَرَامًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A person remains in ease regarding his religion as long as he does not commit unlawful killing."
Hadith 5682
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : دَخَلَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، وَغُلَامٌ مِنْ بَنِيهِ رَابِطٌ دَجَاجَةً يَرْمِيهَا ، فَمَشَى إِلَى الدَّجَاجَةِ فَحَلَّهَا ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ بِهَا وَبِالْغُلَامِ ، وَقَالَ لِيَحْيَى : ازْجُرُوا غُلَامَكُمْ هَذَا مِنْ أَنْ يَصْبِرَ هَذَا الطَّيْرَ عَلَى الْقَتْلِ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْهَى أَنْ تُصْبَرَ بَهْمَةٌ أَوْ غَيْرُهَا لِقَتْلٍ ، وَإِنْ أَرَدْتُمْ ذَبْحَهَا فَاذْبَحُوهَا " .
Once, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) visited Yahya bin Saeed. At that time, one of Yahya’s boys had tied up a chicken and was shooting at it as a target. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) went to the chicken and untied it, and brought the boy along with the chicken to Yahya and said, “Stop your boy from tying up any bird and using it as a target, for I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding the tying up of any animal or creature for target practice. If you want to slaughter it, then slaughter it properly.”
Hadith 5683
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنِي لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أُمَيَّةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَسِيدٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ : إِنَّا " نَجِدُ صَلَاةَ الْحَضَرِ وَصَلَاةَ الْخَوْفِ فِي الْقُرْآنِ ، وَلَا نَجِدُ صَلَاةَ السَّفَرِ فِي الْقُرْآنِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : ابْنَ أَخِي ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا ، فَإِنَّمَا نَفْعَلُ كَمَا رَأَيْنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُ " .
Umayyah bin Abdullah asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that in the Noble Qur'an we find mention of the prayer of fear and the prayer of residence, but we do not find mention of the prayer of travel (even then, why is the prayer shortened during travel?) He replied, "Nephew! When Allah Almighty sent the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we knew nothing. We will only do as we saw him doing."
