Once, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) passed by Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), who at that time was narrating this hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Whoever goes with a funeral and offers the funeral prayer will receive a reward equal to one qirat, and if he also remains present at the time of burial, he will receive a reward equal to two qirats, each of which is greater than Mount Uhud." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Abu Hurairah! Consider carefully what you are narrating from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." At this, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up and took him to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and said to her, "O Mother of the Believers! I ask you by Allah, did you hear the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever goes with a funeral and offers the funeral prayer will receive a reward equal to one qirat, and if he also remains present at the time of burial, he will receive a reward equal to two qirats?" She replied, "By Allah! Yes." After this, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Planting date palms or engaging in business in the markets was not the reason I did not attend the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) (because I did not do these things). I used to seek two things from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): one was the knowledge that he taught me, and the other was the morsel that he fed me." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "Abu Hurairah, you used to stay with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more than us, and you are more knowledgeable than us regarding his hadith."

Ubaid bin Umair (may Allah have mercy on him) once asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), "I see you only touching the two corners, the Black Stone and the Yemeni Corner. What is the reason for this?" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "If I do so, it is because I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that touching these two corners wipes away a person's sins. And I also heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that whoever performs seven circuits of Tawaf, counting them, and then offers two units of prayer after Tawaf, it is equal to freeing a slave. And I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say that for every step a person takes or puts down, ten good deeds are written for him, ten sins are erased, and ten ranks are raised."

Qaqa’ bin Hakim says that once Abdul Aziz bin Marwan wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) saying, “Present your needs before me (so that I may order them to be fulfilled).” Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied to this letter, writing: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: ‘The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and begin (giving) with those whose maintenance is your responsibility.’ I do not ask you for anything, nor will I reject the sustenance that Allah grants me from your side.”
Hadith 4475
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The image-makers will be subjected to punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and it will be said to them: 'Give life to what you have created and blow soul into them.'"

Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the issue of those who perform li'an. He replied that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) separated such a husband and wife and said: "Allah knows that one of you is certainly lying, so is any one of you ready to repent?" But neither of them was willing. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement before them three times, and upon their refusal, he separated them.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever keeps a dog that is neither for protection nor a hunting dog, then his reward will decrease by one qirat every day." Someone said to him that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) also mentions the dog kept for guarding crops? Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) says that Abdullah, the son of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), came to him and said, “I fear that this year there will be fighting among the people and you may be prevented from reaching the Sacred Sanctuary. Would it not be better if you stayed this year and did not go for Hajj?” Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied, “The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also set out from Madinah, and the disbelievers of Quraysh came between him and the Sacred Sanctuary. So, if any obstacle comes before me as well, I will do what the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.” Then he recited this verse: “Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have an excellent example,” and said, “I have already made the intention for ‘Umrah.” After that, he set out, and when he reached the place of Bayda’, he said, “The matter of Hajj and ‘Umrah is the same; I make you witnesses that I have now made the intention for Hajj along with my ‘Umrah.” Thus, he reached Makkah and performed a single Tawaf for both.
