Ayub bin Sulaiman says that we were sitting with Ata Khurasani (may Allah have mercy on him) against a wall of the mosque in Makkah Mukarramah. We neither asked him anything nor did he narrate anything to us. Then we sat in the same way with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), that we neither asked him anything nor did he narrate anything to us. Eventually, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "What is the matter, why do you people not speak? And why do you not remember Allah? Say Allahu Akbar, Alhamdulillah, and Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi. For one, ten will be given, and for ten, a hundred good deeds will be granted. And whoever increases in this number, Allah will increase his good deeds accordingly. And whoever remains silent, Allah will forgive him. Shall I not tell you five things which I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?" The people said, "Why not?" He said: "Whoever's intercession becomes a barrier in any of the punishments prescribed by Allah, it is as if he has opposed Allah in Allah's matter. Whoever helps someone in an unjust case will remain under Allah's anger until he leaves it. Whoever backbites a believing man or woman behind their back, Allah will stop him at the place of the pus of the people of Hell. Whoever dies in debt, his good deeds will be taken from him and given to the creditor, because on the Day of Resurrection there will be no dirham or dinar. And be very particular about the two Sunnah rak'ahs of Fajr, for these two rak'ahs possess great virtues."

Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Ali, may Allah have mercy on him, says that whenever Abdullah bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, heard something from the Prophet, peace be upon him, or was present at an occasion, he would not make any addition or omission when narrating it. Once, Ubaid bin Umair, may Allah be pleased with him, was speaking and Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, was also present there. Ubaid bin Umair said that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "The example of a hypocrite is like that of a goat between two flocks; when it goes to one flock, the goats there drive it away with their horns, and when it goes to the other flock, the goats there also drive it away with their horns." Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, said: "This hadith is not like this." Ubaid bin Umair was displeased at this. Abdullah bin Safwan was also present in that gathering. He said: "O Abu Abdur Rahman! May Allah's mercy descend upon you, how did the Prophet, peace be upon him, actually say it?" Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, then narrated the hadith again and used the word «ربيضين» instead of «غنمين». So Abdullah said: "May Allah have mercy on you, both words mean the same."
