It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw phlegm stuck towards the qiblah in the mosque. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and cleaned it, then turned towards the people and said: "When any one of you is in prayer, Allah is in front of his face, so none of you should clean his nose in front of his face during his prayer."

While saying this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began to tremble on the pulpit, to the extent that we feared the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) might fall down from it.

I neither fast on that day nor do I command or forbid it, so if you wish, you may fast, and if you do not wish, then do not fast.

The narrator says that then Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) placed his left hand on his left knee and his right hand on his right knee and began to point with his finger.

I asked, "Did you count the divorce that was given during her menstrual period?" He said, "What was the reason for not counting it?"

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Allah Almighty will bring a believing servant close to Himself and will cover him with His cloak, concealing him from the sight of the people, and will make him confess his sins. Allah will say to him, 'Do you remember such and such sin?' When he has confessed all his sins and thinks in his heart that he is doomed, Allah Almighty will say to him, 'I concealed your sins in the world, and today I forgive you.' Then he will be given his book of deeds. As for the disbelievers and hypocrites, the witnesses will say, 'These are the ones who used to deny their Lord.' Be aware! The curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers."
