It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the words with which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to swear were these: «لا و مقلب القلوب» No, by the Turner of the hearts.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) spread out a dining mat before him and brought meat and placed it in front of him. He refused to eat it and said, "I do not eat the meat of those animals which you sacrifice in the names of your idols; rather, I only eat those things over which Allah's name has been mentioned."

Umar bin Abdullah says that once some people were coming from Marwan, and they met Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). He asked, "Where are these people coming from?" They replied, "We are coming from the Amir of Madinah, Marwan." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "Did you speak about the truth you saw there and support it, and did you denounce and object to the evil you saw there?" They said, "By Allah! That did not happen. Rather, he would say something wrong and we would support him, and we would say to him, 'May Allah deal with you in goodness.' And when we left from there, we would say, 'May Allah kill him, how oppressive and wicked he is!'" Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "In the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to consider this as hypocrisy."

They informed me that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had returned our sons and women to us. I said, "Then one of your women is also with Banu Jumah; go and take her from there." So they went there and took her back.

After a little while, I got up from there and went to sit with Sa’eed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him). Meanwhile, my companion came; the color of his face had changed and it was pale yellow. As soon as he arrived, he said, “Come with me.” I said, “I was just sitting with you.” Sa’eed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) said, “Go with your companion.” So I stood up. He said to me, “Did you hear what Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said?” I asked, “What did he say?” He said that a man came to him and said, “O Abu Abdur Rahman! If I swear by the Ka’bah, will there be any sin upon me?” He replied, “What need do you have to swear by the Ka’bah? If you must swear by the Ka’bah, then swear by the Lord of the Ka’bah, because Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to swear by saying «كلا وابي». One day, even in the presence of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he swore this oath, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ‘Do not swear by your father or by anything other than Allah, for whoever swears by other than Allah commits shirk (associating partners with Allah).’”

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that two men brought their dispute to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked the claimant for witnesses, but he had no witnesses. Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) demanded an oath from the defendant. He swore an oath saying: "By Allah, besides whom there is no deity." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have sworn the oath, but due to the sincerity in your saying «لا اله الا الله», all your sins have been forgiven."

What is your opinion about fighting during the days of tribulation (fitnah)?" He replied, "May your mother weep for you! Do you know what fitnah is? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fight the polytheists, and entering among them or into their religion was fitnah. It was not like today, when you fight for the sake of government."

When Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) came to know of this, she said, "Does Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) also know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed three Umrahs in addition to the Umrah he performed during the Farewell Hajj?"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once I participated in a jihad with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). During the battle, people became frightened and began to flee; I was among them. Later, we began to wonder what would happen now? We had turned our backs and fled from the battlefield and returned with the wrath of Allah. Then we said, let us go to Madinah and spend the night there. We will present ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). If this is accepted, then very good; otherwise, we will set out again for fighting. So, before the Fajr prayer, we presented ourselves before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out of the house and said: "Who are you people?" We replied, "Those who fled." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, rather you are those who return to attack. I am a group among you, and I am a whole group among the Muslims." Then we went forward and kissed the blessed hand of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

Yahya bin Rashid says that we were ten men from the people of Sham who set out with the intention of Hajj and reached Makkah Mukarramah. Then we went to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), he came and said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Whoever intercedes in a matter where Allah has prescribed a punishment, it is as if he has opposed Allah. Whoever dies in debt, his debt will not be paid with dirhams and dinars, but with good and bad deeds. Whoever argues while being in the wrong, and he knows himself to be in the wrong, remains in Allah’s anger until he withdraws from that matter. And whoever says something about a Muslim that is not in him, Allah will make him stay at the place of the pus of the people of Hell until he refrains from saying that.

At that time, dogs used to come and go in the mosque, and after that, people would not even sprinkle a little water on the ground.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went towards the camel pens, and I also went with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I was on the right side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After a short while, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) appeared coming from the front. I moved from my place, and he came to the right side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and I was on the left side. Then Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) also came. I again moved from my place, and he came to the left side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the camel pens, there were some waterskins there in which there was wine. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me for a knife. That day I came to know of something called a knife. In any case, at the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), those waterskins were cut open. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Curse is upon wine, its drinker and the one who serves it, its seller and buyer, its carrier and the one for whom it is carried, its presser and the one for whom it is pressed, and upon the one who consumes its price.”

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say that whoever does not accept the concession given by Allah, upon him is sin equal to the mountains of Arafah."

Abdur Rahman bin Rafi’ Hadrami (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I saw Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) at the Eidgah on the day of Eid al-Fitr. On one side of him was his son. He said to his son, “Do you know what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do on this day?” He replied, “I do not know.” Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the prayer before the sermon.”

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should pray two rak‘ahs at a time, and when you fear that morning is near, then add one rak‘ah to those two, and pray two rak‘ahs before the Fajr prayer."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) mentioned saying takbeer every time he bowed and raised his head, and he mentioned «السلام عليكم ورحمته الله» on the right side and «السلام عليكم» on the left side.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that there was a man from the Quraysh whom people used to deceive in trade. This was mentioned before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whenever you buy or sell with someone, say to him: 'There is no deception in this transaction.'" Since he had a stammer in his speech, instead of saying «لاخلابه», he would say «لاخيابه».

One day, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and threw it away and said: "From now on, I will never wear it." Consequently, the people also took off their rings and threw them away.
