It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever drags his clothes on the ground out of arrogance, Allah will not look at him with mercy on the Day of Resurrection."

Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) heard a man in another gathering swear by «لا وابي», so he threw pebbles at him and said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) used to swear like this, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from this, saying that it is shirk (associating partners with Allah).

He replied: "If I walk at a normal pace, then I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) walking like this as well, and if I walk quickly, then I have seen the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) walking like that as well, and I have become very old."

Abu Az-Zubair was listening to this conversation. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse of Surah Al-Ahzab in this way: "O Prophet! When you people want to divorce your wives, then divorce them at the beginning of their waiting period" (meaning to divorce them in the days of purity, not during menstruation).

Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) presented himself in the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should keep her with him until she becomes pure from that period, then another period comes and she becomes pure from that as well. Then, if he decides to divorce her, he may divorce her according to the command of Allah, and if he decides to keep her, he may keep her."

Tell me, which tree is that?" People began to think of various trees in the forest. It occurred to me that it could be the date palm tree. After a little while, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself said, "It is the date palm tree." I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and he said: "If you had spoken up at that moment, it would have been more beloved to me than such and such things."
