Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivered a sermon during i'tikaf and said: "Whoever among you stands to pray, in reality he is conversing with his Lord, so you should know that you are conversing with your Lord. And do not recite aloud over one another in prayer."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): If a person becomes impure by choice, can he sleep in that state? The Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes, he should perform ablution and then sleep." Nafi' says that whenever Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) intended to do such a thing, he would perform ablution as for prayer, leaving only the feet.

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade intending to perform prayer at the time of sunset.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not prevent the female servants of Allah from coming to the mosques."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No person should prevent his family members from coming to the mosque." Upon hearing this, one of the sons of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "We will prevent them." Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "I am narrating to you the hadith of the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and you are saying this?" After that, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) did not speak to him until his last breath.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wants to see the scene of the Day of Resurrection with his own eyes should recite Surah Takweer, Surah Infitar, and Surah Inshiqaq." He also probably mentioned Surah Hud.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his feet in the stirrup and his she-camel stood up straight with him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter into the state of Ihram from the mosque of Dhu’l-Hulayfah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "None of you should eat from his sacrificial meat for more than three days (later this command was abrogated)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: There are five kinds of animals for whose killing there is no sin: the scorpion, the mouse, the kite, the crow, and the rabid dog.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seek the Night of Qadr in the last seven nights of Ramadan."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the three Caliphs (may Allah be pleased with them) used to walk in front of the funeral procession.

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wants to see the scene of the Day of Resurrection with his own eyes should recite Surah Takweer."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you comes for Jumu'ah, he should come after performing ghusl (ritual bath)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the sale of fruits before they ripen.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever keeps a dog that is neither for protection nor a hunting dog, then two qirats will be deducted from his reward every day."

Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that he asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the issue of those who perform li'an. He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) separated such a husband and wife and said that Allah knows that one of you is certainly lying, so is any one of you ready to repent? But neither of them was willing, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) repeated this statement before them three times.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, made this agreement with the people of Khaybar: whatever produce comes from the fruits or crops, half of it you will give to us. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to give his noble wives one hundred wasqs every year, of which eighty wasqs were dates and twenty wasqs were barley.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his feet in the stirrup and the she-camel stood up straight with him, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter into Ihram from the mosque of Dhul-Hulaifah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the Dajjal in front of the people and said: "Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, is not one-eyed, but remember that the Messiah Dajjal will be blind in his right eye; his right eye will be swollen like a grape."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you is invited to a wedding feast, he should accept that invitation."

The previous hadith is also narrated through this second chain of transmission.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, once concluded the prayer with salam after leading two rak‘ahs in one of the two evening prayers, then he mentioned the complete hadith.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hasten to perform Witr before the coming of dawn."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) established the lineage of the child of the woman who performed li'an with her mother (and severed his lineage from the father).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hasten to perform Witr before the arrival of dawn."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed in Madinah Munawwarah for ten years and offered sacrifice every year.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer voluntary prayers on his mount, facing whichever direction it turned.

Qaza'ah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) sent me on an errand and said, "Come close so that I may bid you farewell in the same manner as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bid me farewell when he sent me on an errand." Then he took my hand and said, "I entrust your religion, your trustworthiness, and the outcome of your deeds to Allah."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and stood by the well on the day of the Battle of Badr, in which the bodies of the chiefs of Quraysh were thrown, and he began to call them by name, saying: "Did you find the promise of your Lord to be true?" By Allah! At this moment, these people are hearing my words. Yahya says that when Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) learned of this hadith, she said: "May Allah forgive Abu Abdur Rahman, he has made a mistake. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had said: 'Now it has been confirmed that what I used to say to them was true.'"

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his family over him." Someone mentioned this to Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), so Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: They have misunderstood; Allah Almighty says that no person bears the burden of another. In fact, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once passed by a grave and said regarding it that at that moment, he is being punished and his family is weeping over him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When returning from Hajj, Jihad, or Umrah, whenever they ascended a high place on the earth, they would recite this supplication: «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ آيِبُونَ تَائِبُونَ عَابِدُونَ سَاجِدُونَ لِرَبِّنَا حَامِدُونَ صَدَقَ وَعْدَهُ وَنَصَرَ عَبْدَهُ وَهَزَمَ الْأَحْزَابَ وَحْدَهُ» Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, there is no deity except Allah, He is alone, He has no partner, His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He has power over all things. Returning in repentance, in prostration, in worship, and returning while praising our Lord. Allah has fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated all the armies alone."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once someone asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about this issue: If a person finds such water in the wilderness where animals and beasts also come, can ablution be performed with it? I heard that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the water is equal to two pitchers, it does not carry impurity (impurity does not permeate it)."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not perform any prayers (meaning Sunnah prayers) before or after the obligatory prayers while on a journey.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the two Shaykhs (may Allah be pleased with them) used to lead the prayer before the sermon on the occasion of Eid.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed only one Tawaf during his Qiran Hajj, and he did not remove his Ihram between the two, and he purchased the sacrificial animal on the way at the place of Qudayd.

Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him), who was the freed slave of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), says that once Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was walking along a road when he heard the sound of a shepherd singing and playing music. He put his fingers in his ears and left that path, and kept asking me at intervals, “Nafi’! Can you still hear the sound?” If I replied “yes,” he would keep walking, until when I said “no,” he removed his hands from his ears and put his mount back on the path. He then said, “I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) do the same when he heard the sound of a shepherd singing and playing music.”

Matlab bin Abdullah says that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to wash the limbs of wudu three times and attributed this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), whereas Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to wash them once and he too attributed this to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I was present with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on the occasion of Eid; he led the prayer without Adhan or Iqamah. Then I was present with Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) on the occasion of Eid; he led the prayer without Adhan or Iqamah. Then I was present with Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) on the occasion of Eid; he led the prayer without Adhan or Iqamah. Then I was present with Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) on the occasion of Eid; he led the prayer without Adhan or Iqamah.
