It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the night prayer: "You should pray in sets of two rak'ahs, and when you fear that morning is near, then add one rak'ah as witr to those two."

Ziyad bin Subaih Hanafi (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was standing in front of the Ka'bah offering prayer, and an elderly man was sitting beside me. I prolonged my prayer and at one point placed my hand on my side. When the mentioned Sheikh saw this, he struck my chest in such a way that he left no leniency. I thought to myself, what problem does he have with me? So I quickly completed my prayer. I saw that a slave was sitting behind him. I asked, who is this elder? He told me that this is Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both). I sat down until he finished his prayer. I said to him, O Abdur Rahman! What problem did you have with me? He asked, was that you? I replied, yes! He said, such severity in prayer? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade this.
Hadith 4850
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when we set out towards the plain of Arafat with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), some among us were reciting the takbir and some were reciting the talbiyah, while we were reciting the takbir. The narrator said: It is surprising about you people that you did not ask them what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was doing (takbir or talbiyah).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of the mouse, the crow, and the wolf in the state of Ihram. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a man bought a grafted date-palm tree. The two had a dispute. This dispute was presented before the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) decided that the fruit belongs to the owner of the tree who grafted it, except if the buyer had stipulated the condition of buying the tree along with its fruit.

Hasan bin Hadiyah, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I met Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both. He asked me, "Which region are you from?" I replied, "I am from the people of Oman." He said, "Really?" I said, "Yes." He said, "Shall I not narrate to you the hadith which I heard from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him?" I said, "Why not?" He said, "I heard the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'I know of a region called Oman, on one side of which flows the sea. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) allowed the people of Khaybar to remain in their land in exchange for half of the produce, and this arrangement continued throughout the entire blessed life of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and it remained the same during the life of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and it also remained the same during the life of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). On one occasion, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to Khaybar so that I could distribute their shares, so the Jews of that place performed magic on me and the joint of the bone in my hand became dislocated. After that, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took Khaybar away from them.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) wanted to buy Barirah, but Barirah’s owner refused to sell her and said that if the right of wala’ (allegiance) remains with us, then we will sell her. Ibn Awn, may Allah have mercy on him, says that I wrote a letter to Nafi', may Allah have mercy on him, in which I asked him whether the polytheists were invited (to Islam) before fighting. He wrote back to me in reply that this used to happen in the beginning of Islam, and when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) attacked Banu Mustaliq, those people were unaware and their animals were drinking water. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) killed their fighting men, took the rest captive, and on that same day, Lady Juwayriya bint al-Harith came into his share. This hadith has been narrated to me by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, who participated in the army.
Hadith 4858
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he performed prayers in Mina with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), with the two Shaykhs (may Allah be pleased with them), and for six years with Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him); all of them used to perform the prayer of travelers.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever accompanies a funeral and offers the funeral prayer will receive a reward equal to one qirat." Someone asked the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "What is a qirat?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "It is equal to the mountain of Uhud."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on this pulpit, after entering into Ihram, forbidding people from disliked things: Do not wear a shirt, trousers, turban, cap, or socks, except if someone does not find shoes. Whoever does not find shoes should cut the socks below the ankles and wear them. Likewise, any garment that has been touched by a grass called wars or by saffron, the person in Ihram cannot wear it. I also heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbidding women in the state of Ihram from wearing gloves and face veils, as well as garments that have been touched by wars or saffron.

Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once we were traveling with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). While passing by a certain place, he changed his route. Someone asked him why he did that. He replied, "I saw the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) doing the same, so I did likewise."

Abu Ja'far Muhammad bin Ali, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once Ubaid bin Umair, may Allah be pleased with him, was speaking and Sayyiduna Ibn Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, was also present there. Ubaid bin Umair said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of a hypocrite is like that of a goat among flocks; if it goes to one flock, the goats there drive it away with their horns, and if it goes to another flock, the goats there also drive it away with their horns." Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used the word «غنمين» instead of «ربيضين» on this occasion. Upon this, Sayyiduna Ubaid bin Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: If I had not heard this hadith from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, I would not have contradicted your statement.

Ibn Awn says that once I wrote a letter and asked Sayyiduna Nafi’ (may Allah have mercy on him) why Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) had stopped participating in jihad, while before the battle began he used to pray for it, and whether any person could attack an army without the permission of his leader? He replied to me in writing that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) participated in every jihad and rode on the back of an animal, and he himself used to say that after prayer, the most virtuous deed is jihad in the way of Allah. Now, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) not participating in jihad is due to being occupied in fulfilling some bequests of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), taking care of small children, and managing much land. And the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) attacked Banu Mustaliq at a time when they were heedless and watering their animals. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had their fighting men killed, their women taken captive, and Lady Juwayriya (may Allah be pleased with her) came into the share of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This hadith was narrated to me by Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), who participated in that army, and those people used to first invite to Islam. As for the rest, no person can attack any army without the permission of his leader.
