Hadith 3113
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّهُ تَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ كُلَّ عُضْوٍ مِنْهُ غَسْلَةً وَاحِدَةً ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once, while performing ablution, he washed each limb of ablution once and said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had done the same.
Hadith 3113M
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا رَوْحٌ ، قال : أخبرني عمرُ بنُ عطاء وغيرهُ ، عن عِكرمة مولى ابن عباس ، أَن رسول الله صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قال : " لا صَرُورَةَ في الحَجِّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet, the Leader of both worlds (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "There is no place for seclusion in Hajj."
Hadith 3114
(حديث مرفوع) حدثنا محمدُ بن بكر ، أخبرنا ابنُ جريج ، قال : أَخبرني عمرُ بنُ عطاءٍ ، عن عِكْرمة ، عن ابنِ عباسٍ ، عنِ النبيِّ صلَّى الله عَلَيْهِ وَسلَّمَ ، أَنَّه كان يقولُ : " لا صَرُوَرةَ في الإسْلامِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet, the Leader of both worlds, peace and blessings be upon him, used to say: "There is no status for seclusion in Islam."
Hadith 3114M
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَدَاوُدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ أن رجلا نادى ابن عباس ، والناس حوله ، فقال : سنة تبتغون بهذا النبيذ ، أو هو أهون عليكم من العسل واللبن ؟ فقال ابن عباس جاء النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبَّاسًا ، فَقَالَ : " اسْقُونَا " فَقَالَ : إِنَّ هَذَا النَّبِيذَ شَرَابٌ قَدْ مُغِثَ وَمُرِثَ ، أَفَلَا نَسْقِيكَ لَبَنًا وَعَسَلًا ؟ فَقَالَ : " اسْقُونِي مِمَّا تَسْقُونَ مِنْهُ النَّاسَ " ، قَالَ : فَأُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ ، بِعِسَاسٍ فِيهَا النَّبِيذُ ، فَلَمَّا شَرِبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَجِلَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرْوَى ، فَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " أَحْسَنْتُمْ ، هَكَذَا فَاصْنَعُوا " . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : فَرِضَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَلِكَ أَعْجَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَسِيلَ شِعَابُهَا عَلَيْنَا لَبَنًا وَعَسَلًا .
It is narrated that once some people were sitting around Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), when a man came and called out to him, saying: "Are you following any Sunnah by means of this nabidh, or do you consider it lighter than honey and milk?" Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) replied: "Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: 'Give me water to drink.' Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: 'This nabidh has become turbid and dusty; shall we not give you milk or honey?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Give us what you are giving to the people.' So he brought two vessels of nabidh to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time both the Muhajirun and Ansar were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drank from it, he removed it before being fully quenched, and raised his head and said: 'You have done well, do like this.' Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) then said: 'To me, the pleasure of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is more important than if milk and honey were to flow from its sides.'"
Hadith 3115
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ . وَرَوْحٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ أخْبَرَهُ ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا ، وَوَجَدَ سَرَاوِيلَ ، فَلْيَلْبَسْهَا ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ ، وَوَجَدَ خُفَّيْنِ ، فَلْيَلْبَسْهُمَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said while delivering a sermon: "When one does not find an izar (lower garment) to tie as a waist-wrapper in ihram, he should wear trousers, and if he does not find shoes, he should wear socks."
Hadith 3116
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ أخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَكَحَ مَيْمُونَةَ وَهُوَ حَرَامٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) married Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) while he was in the state of Ihram.
Hadith 3117
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا وَعِكْرِمَةَ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، يُخْبِرَانِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : جَاءَتْ ضُبَاعَةُ بِنْتُ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يا رسولَ الله ، إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ ثَقِيلَةٌ ، وَإِنِّي أُرِيدُ الْحَجَّ ، فَكَيْفَ تَأْمُرُنِي كَيْفَ أُهِلُّ ؟ قَالَ : " أَهِلِّي وَاشْتَرِطِي أَنَّ مَحِلِّي حَيْثُ حَبَسْتَنِي " . قَالَ : فَأَدْرَكَتْ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyidah Dubaa‘ah bint Zubair bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! I am a heavy woman and intend to perform Hajj. How do you instruct me to enter into Ihram? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When you enter into Ihram, make a condition that I will become lawful (i.e., exit Ihram) at the place, O Allah, where You restrain me." Thus, she performed Hajj.
Hadith 3118
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَائِرَاتِ الْقُبُورِ ، وَالْمُتَّخِذِينَ عَلَيْهَا الْمَسَاجِدَ وَالسُّرُجَ " . قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : أُرَهُ يَعْنِي الْيَهُودَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the women who do (unlawful acts) in the graveyards, and also those who build mosques over graves and illuminate them.
Hadith 3119
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ : " كَيْفَ أُصَلِّي إِذَا كُنْتُ بِمَكَّةَ ، إِذَا لَمْ أُصَلِّ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ ؟ فَقَالَ : رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، سُنَّةَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Musa bin Salamah says that once I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when I am in Makkah Mukarramah and cannot pray with the Imam, how many rak'ahs should I pray? He replied: Two rak'ahs, because this is the Sunnah of Abul Qasim (peace be upon him).
Hadith 3120
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : أَجْنَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَيْمُونَةُ ، فَاغْتَسَلَتْ مَيْمُونَةُ فِي جَفْنَةٍ ، وَفَضَلَتْ فَضْلَةٌ ، فَأَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَغْتَسِلَ مِنْهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي قَدْ اغْتَسَلْتُ مِنْهُ . فَقَالَ : يَعْنِي النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَيْسَتْ عَلَيْهِ جَنَابَةٌ " أَوْ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمَاءَ لَا يَنْجُسُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) were both in a state requiring ghusl. Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) performed ghusl of janabah from a tub of water, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to perform ghusl from the water left over by her. Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I have performed ghusl from it. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Nothing makes water impure.”
Hadith 3121
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : أُرَاهُ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ " تَمَتَّعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " . فَقَالَ : عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ نَهَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : مَا يَقُولُ عُرَيَّةُ ؟ قَالَ : يَقُولُ : نَهَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ عَنِ الْمُتْعَةِ . فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : أُرَاهُمْ سَيَهْلِكُونَ ! أَقُولُ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَيَقُولُ : نَهَى أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Hajj Tamattu'. Urwah bin Zubair (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The two Shaykhs (Abu Bakr and Umar) used to prohibit it? Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) asked: What is Urwah saying? People informed him that he is saying: The two Shaykhs prohibited it? Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: It seems these people will be ruined; I am saying that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and they are saying that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) prohibited it.
Hadith 3122
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنِ التَّمِيمِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَقَدْ أُمِرْتُ بِالسِّوَاكِ ، حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيَنْزِلُ بِهِ عَلَيَّ قُرْآنٌ ، أَوْ وَحْيٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I was commanded regarding the miswak with such emphasis that I began to fear that perhaps a verse of the Qur'an would be revealed to me about it (and my ummah would not be able to fulfill this command)."
Hadith 3123
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقَيْلٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " شَرِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَبَنًا ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ ، فَمَضْمَضَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنَّ لَهُ دَسَمًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once drank milk and then rinsed his mouth and said, "It has greasiness in it."
Hadith 3124
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي يَعْلَى بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : نَزَلَتْ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ سورة النساء آية 59 فِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ السَّهْمِيِّ ، " إِذْ بَعَثَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي السَّرِيَّةِ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the statement of Allah Almighty: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللّٰهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ﴾ [النساء : 59]» "O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you." was revealed regarding Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hudhafah Qais bin Adi Sahmi (may Allah be pleased with him) when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him on an expedition.
Hadith 3125
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ جَمَعْتُ الْمُحْكَمَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " وَقُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا ابْنُ عَشْرِ حِجَجٍ " . قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : وَمَا الْمُحْكَمُ ؟ قَالَ : الْمُفَصَّلُ .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The chapters which you call "Mufassalat" are in fact "Muhkamat." At the time of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) passing, I was ten years old, and by that time I had recited all the Muhkamat.
Hadith 3126
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ أَنَّ جَنَازَةً مَرَّتْ بِالْحَسَنِ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقَامَ الْحَسَنُ وَلَمْ يَقُمْ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : أَقَامَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : قَامَ ، وَقَعَدَ .
Muhammad bin Sirin, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once a funeral passed by in front of Sayyiduna Imam Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both. Sayyiduna Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, stood up and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, remained seated. Sayyiduna Imam Hasan, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Do you not know that a funeral passed by the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he stood up? He said: Of course, but later the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, began to remain seated.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ يَأْذَنُ لِأَهْلِ بَدْرٍ ، وَيَأْذَنُ لِي مَعَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : يَأْذَنُ لِهَذَا الْفَتَى مَعَنَا ، وَمِنْ أَبْنَائِنَا مَنْ هُوَ مِثْلُهُ ؟ ! فَقَالَ : عُمَرُ إِنَّهُ ممَنْ قَدْ عَلِمْتُمْ ، قَالَ : فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ ، وَأَذِنَ لِي مَعَهُمْ ، فَسَأَلَهُمْ عَنْ هَذِهِ السُّورَةِ إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ فَقَالُوا : " أَمَرَ نَبِيَّهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا فُتِحَ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرَهُ وَيَتُوبَ إِلَيْهِ " . فَقَالَ لِي : مَا تَقُولُ يَا ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : لَيْسَتْ كَذَلِكَ ، وَلَكِنَّهُ أَخْبَرَ نَبِيَّهُ عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاة وَالسَّلَامُ بِحُضُورِ أَجَلِهِ ، فَقَالَ إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ سورة النصر آية 1 فَتْحُ مَكَّةَ ، وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا سورة النصر آية 2 فَذَلِكَ عَلَامَةُ مَوْتِكَ ، فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا سورة النصر آية 3 فَقَالَ : لَهُمْ كَيْفَ تَلُومُونِي عَلَى مَا تَرَوْنَ ؟ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) would permit the people of Badr to come to him, he would also allow me to join them in their presence. Some of the companions of Badr said, "Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) allows this young man to join us, while we have sons like him as well?" When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) found out, he said: "He is intelligent." One day, Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) permitted the companions of Badr to come to him and also granted me permission to join them. He asked them about Surah Nasr. They said that in this Surah, Allah Almighty commanded His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when victory is granted to him, he should seek forgiveness and repent. Then he asked me, "O Ibn Abbas! What do you say?" I replied, "My opinion is not that. In fact, in this Surah, Allah Almighty informed His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that the time of his death was near, and said that when the help of Allah comes and Makkah is conquered, and you see people entering the religion of Allah in crowds, then this is a sign of your passing. Therefore, glorify the praises of your Lord and seek forgiveness from Him. Surely, He is ever accepting of repentance." Upon hearing this, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Now you have seen, so how can you blame me?"
Hadith 3128
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، أَنْبَأَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَهَلَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْحَجِّ ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمَ طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ ، وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا وَالْمَرْوَةِ ، وَلَمْ يُقَصِّرْ ، وَلَمْ يَحِلَّ مِنْ أَجْلِ الْهَدْيِ ، وَأَمَرَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سَاقَ الْهَدْيَ أَنْ يَطُوفَ ، وَأَنْ يَسْعَى ، وَأَنْ يُقَصِّرَ أَوْ يَحْلِقَ ، ثُمَّ يَحِلَّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered into the state of Ihram with the intention of Hajj. Upon reaching Makkah Mukarramah, he performed Tawaf of the Ka'bah and Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, but due to having brought the sacrificial animal (Hady), he did not shave or cut his hair to become halal. And he instructed those who had not brought the sacrificial animal with them that "after performing Tawaf and Sa'i, they should become halal by shaving or cutting their hair."
Hadith 3129
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ أَيُّ الشَّرَابِ أَطْيَبُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْحُلْوُ الْبَارِدُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked, "Which drink is the best?" He replied: "That which is sweet and cold."
Hadith 3130
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray thirteen rak‘ahs at night (eight of Tahajjud, three of Witr, and two Sunnahs of Fajr).
Hadith 3131
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَمْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : " مَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا أَلْعَبُ مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ ، فَاخْتَبَأْتُ مِنْهُ خَلْفَ بَابٍ ، فَدَعَانِي ، فَحَطَأَنِي حَطْأَةً ، ثُمَّ بَعَثَنِي إِلَى مُعَاوِيَةَ ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَقُلْتُ : هُوَ يَأْكُلُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once passed by me while I was playing with other children. I went and hid behind a door. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and affectionately play-wrestled me to the ground, then sent me to Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). I returned and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he was eating.
Hadith 3132
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَبَهْزٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حَبِيبٍ ، قَالَ : بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : أَهْدَى الصَّعْبُ ، وَقَالَ : ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ابْنُ جَثَّامَةَ " إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شِقَّةَ حِمَارٍ ، وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ ، فَرَدَّهُ " . قَالَ بَهْزٌ : عَجُزَ حِمَارٍ ، أَوْ قَالَ : رِجْلَ حِمَارٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) presented the leg of a donkey to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned it, saying, "We are in the state of Ihram."
Hadith 3133
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنِ الْمِنْهَالِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَرْتُ مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي طَرِيقٍ مِنْ طُرُقِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَإِذَا فِتْيَةٌ قَدْ نَصَبُوا دَجَاجَةً يَرْمُونَهَا ، لَهُمْ كُلُّ خَاطِئَةٍ ، قَالَ : فَغَضِبَ ، وَقَالَ : مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا ؟ ، قَالَ : فَتَفَرَّقُوا ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ " لَعَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ يُمَثِّلُ بِالْحَيَوَانِ " .
Saeed bin Jubair (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I was passing through a street of Madinah Munawwarah with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them). We saw that some young men had tied up a chicken and were practicing their aim on it. At this, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) became angry and said: Who is doing this? Immediately, all the young men scattered to the right and left. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the person who mutilates an animal.
Hadith 3134
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ ، قَالَ : " أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ مَرَّ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَبْرٍ مَنْبُوذٍ ، فَأَمَّهُمْ ، وَصَفُّوا خَلْفَهُ " . فَقُلْتُ : يَا أَبَا عَمْرٍو ، مَنْ حَدَّثَكَ ؟ قَالَ : ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ .
Imam Sha'bi, may Allah have mercy on him, says that a companion, may Allah be pleased with him, who passed by an isolated grave with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, told me that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, offered its funeral prayer and the people lined up behind the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. I asked Imam Sha'bi, may Allah have mercy on him, the name of this companion, so he told me: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both.
Hadith 3135
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ إِنَّمَا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ ، أَنْ يَمْنَحَهَا أَخَاهُ ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is better for a person to present his land to his brother as a gift."
Hadith 3136
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ عِنْدَ الْحَجَرِ ، وَعِنْدَهُ مِحْجَنٌ يَضْرِبُ بِهِ الْحَجَرَ ، وَيُقَبِّلُهُ ، فَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ سورة آل عمران آية 102 ، لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً قُطِرَتْ مِنَ الزَّقُّومِ فِي الْأَرْضِ ، لَأَمَرَّتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مَعِيشَتَهُمْ ، فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ هُوَ طَعَامُهُ ، وَلَيْسَ لَهُ طَعَامٌ غَيْرُهُ ؟ ! " .
Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once people were performing Tawaf of the Ka'bah and Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) was present in the Haram. He also had a stick with him. He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this verse: «﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ﴾ [آل عمران : 102]» "O you who believe! Fear Allah as He should be feared, and do not die except as Muslims." He said: "If even a single drop of Zaqqum were to drip onto the earth, it would make the lives of the people of the earth bitter. Now think, what will be the state of the one whose food is Zaqqum." Benefit: "Zaqqum" is the name of a tree in Hell.
Hadith 3137
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : رَكِبَتْ امْرَأَةٌ الْبَحْرَ ، فَنَذَرَتْ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرًا ، فَمَاتَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَصُومَ ، فَأَتَتْ أُخْتُهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَتْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، " فَأَمَرَهَا أَنْ تَصُومَ عَنْهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman set out on a sea journey. She made a vow that if Allah Almighty brought her back safely, she would fast for one month. Allah Almighty brought her back safe and sound, but she was not able to fast until her death. Her sister came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and related the whole incident. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You should fast on her behalf."
Hadith 3138
حدثنا عبد الله ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ يَعْنِي الْأَعْمَشَ ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً مِنَ الزَّقُّومِ . . . فَذَكَرَهُ .
Hadith number (3136) is also narrated through this second chain.
Hadith 3139
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : " مَا عَمَلٌ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ فِي هَذِهِ الْأَيَّامِ " يَعْنِي أَيَّامَ الْعَشْرِ ، قَالَ : فَقِيلَ وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، إِلَّا مَنْ خَرَجَ بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ ، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَرْجِعْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days (of Dhul-Hijjah)." The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Not even Jihad in the way of Allah?" He said: "Yes, not even Jihad in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth and returns with nothing of it."
Hadith 3140
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ شَيْخٍ أَحْمَقَ صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ ، فَكَبَّرَ فِيهَا ثِنْتَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ تَكْبِيرَةً ، يُكَبِّرُ إِذَا سَجَدَ ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ السُّجُودِ . فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : " لَا أُمَّ لَكَ ، تِلْكَ سُنَّةُ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Ikrimah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I said to Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that today I performed the Zuhr prayer in Wadi Batha behind a foolish old man; he said the takbeer twenty-two times in one prayer. He would say the takbeer even when he went into prostration and when he raised his head from it. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, "May your mother lose you! This is how the prayer of Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) used to be."
Hadith 3141
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَرَوْحٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْ كُلِّ ذِي مِخْلَبٍ مِنَ الطَّيْرِ ، وَعَنْ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade, on the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, every predatory animal that hunts with its fangs and every bird that hunts with its talons.
Hadith 3142
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَأَبُو عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الْمُجَثَّمَةِ ، وَالْجَلَّالَةِ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ : نَهَى عَنْ لَبَنِ الْجَلَّالَةِ ، وَأَنْ يَشْرَبَ مِنْ فِي السِّقَاءِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the use of the milk of a goat that eats filth, and from (using) an animal that is tied up and used as a target for practice, and he forbade drinking water directly from the mouth of a waterskin.
Hadith 3143
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ لَبَنِ الْجَلَّالَةِ ، وَعَنِ الْمُجَثَّمَةِ ، وَعَنِ الشُّرْبِ مِنْ فِي السِّقَاءِ " .

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَابْنُ بَكْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرِيدَ عَلَى ابْنَةِ حَمْزَةَ أَنْ يَتَزَوَّجَهَا ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ النَّسَبِ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a person once presented the daughter of Sayyiduna Hamza (may Allah be pleased with him) for marriage in the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She is my foster niece, and all those relationships become unlawful due to suckling which become unlawful due to lineage."
Hadith 3145
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا غَشِيَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ ، فَسَأَلَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ " فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقَ بِدِينَارٍ ، أَوْ نِصْفِ دِينَارٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said regarding the person who had intimacy with his wife during her menstrual period: "He should give one or half a dinar in charity."
Hadith 3146
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْعَائِدُ فِي هِبَتِهِ كَالْعَائِدِ فِي قَيْئِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the one who takes back his gift after giving it is like that of a dog who vomits and then licks it up again."
Hadith 3147
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَيَزِيدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدٌ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْعَالِيَةِ الرِّيَاحِيُّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ الْكَرْبِ : " لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ، وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ " . قَالَ يَزِيدُ : " رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ السَّبْعِ ، وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was afflicted with hardship, he used to say: «لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ الْعَظِيمُ الْحَلِيمُ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ رَبُّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَرَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْكَرِيمِ» "There is no deity except Allah, the Most Great, the Most Forbearing. There is no deity except Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is no deity except Allah, Lord of the heavens and the earth and the Noble Throne."
Hadith 3148
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَقَّتَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ ، وَلِأَهْلِ الشَّامِ الْجُحْفَةَ ، وَلِأَهْلِ نَجْدٍ قَرْنَ ، وَلِأَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ يَلَمْلَمَ ، قَالَ : " هُنَّ لَهُمْ ، وَلِمَنْ أَتَى عَلَيْهِنَّ مِمَّنْ سِوَاهُمْ ، مِمَّنْ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ وَالْعُمْرَةَ ، ثُمَّ مِنْ حَيْثُ بَدَأَ ، حَتَّى بَلَغَ ذَلِكَ أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed Dhu’l-Hulayfah as the miqat for the people of Madinah, Juhfah for the people of Sham, Yalamlam for the people of Yemen, and Qarn for the people of Najd, and said: “These places are miqat for the residents of these areas and for those who pass through them—who intend Hajj and Umrah—until the people of Makkah will assume ihram from where they begin.”
Hadith 3149
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَسَّانَ الْأَعْرَجَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ، فَأُتِيَ بِبَدَنَةٍ ، فَأَشْعَرَ صَفْحَةَ سَنَامِهَا الْأَيْمَنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَتَ الدَّمَ عَنْهَا ، وَقَلَّدَهَا نَعْلَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِرَاحِلَتِهِ ، فَرَكِبَهَا ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَتْ بِهِ عَلَى الْبَيْدَاءِ ، أَهَلَّ بِالْحَجِّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Zuhr prayer at Dhu’l-Hulayfah, then he had the sacrificial animal brought, drew blood from its right side and applied it on it, then cleaned off that blood and hung sandals around its neck. Then the riding animal of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was brought. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mounted it and reached Bayda, he recited the Talbiyah for Hajj.
Hadith 3150
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . وَحَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " هَذِهِ وَهَذِهِ سَوَاءٌ " يَعْنِي الْخِنْصَرَ وَالْإِبْهَامَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The thumb and the little finger are equal."
