Adam (peace be upon him) saw among them a man whose complexion was radiant. He asked: 'O Lord! Who is this?' Allah said: 'This is your son Dawud (David).' He asked: 'O Lord! How long is his lifespan?' Allah said: 'Sixty years.' He said: 'O Lord! Increase his lifespan.' Allah said: 'That is not possible, but it is possible that I reduce some years from your lifespan and add them to his.' The lifespan of Adam (peace be upon him) was one thousand years. Allah took forty years from it and added forty years to the lifespan of Dawud (peace be upon him), and wrote this matter down and made the angels witnesses to it. When the time of Adam's (peace be upon him) death approached and the angels came to seize his soul, Adam (peace be upon him) said: 'But forty years of my life still remain?' It was said to him: 'You have already given those forty years to your son Dawud.' But he said: 'I did not do so.' Thereupon Allah presented that written document before him and the angels bore witness to it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed Umrah from Ji‘irrana, and in the first three circuits of the Tawaf of the Ka‘bah he performed ramal, and in the remaining four circuits he walked as usual.

Abu Tufail says that I once asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), "Your people think that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ramal during tawaf and that it is a Sunnah?" He replied, "These people say some things that are true and some that are false." I asked, "What is true and what is false?" He said, "The truth is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did perform ramal while circumambulating the House of Allah, but to consider it a Sunnah is incorrect. The reason is that during the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, the Quraysh had said, 'Leave Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions (may Allah be pleased with them), so that they may perish just as a camel dies when a worm comes out of its nose.' When they made peace with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on this condition among other conditions, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) could come to Makkah the following year with his companions (may Allah be pleased with them) and stay for three days, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came the following year. Someone asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the Dajjal, so he said, "I found him to be large in stature and of a greenish-white complexion. One of his eyes was prominent, and it seemed as if it was a shining pearl, and the hair on his head was like the branches of a tree. I saw Jesus (peace be upon him); he was a young man of white complexion, with curly hair, sharp eyes, and physically had a slim belly.
