Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah

It is narrated from Hazrat Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. The people asked, "O Messenger of Allah! Are these days even better than striving in the way of Allah?" The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "These days are even better than striving in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth in the way of Allah and returns with nothing."

Hazrat Buraidah Aslami (may Allah have mercy on him) stood by the bank of the river Balkh and said, "Life is only with the gleam of horses."

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a man came to the service of the Prophet ﷺ with a bridled she-camel and said, "I dedicate this she-camel in the way of Allah." Upon this, the Prophet ﷺ said, "On the Day of Judgment, you will receive in exchange seven hundred she-camels, all of them bridled."

Hazrat Abu Talha (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that during the Battle of Uhud, I raised my head and saw that every person was overcome by sleep.

It is similarly narrated from Hazrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) and Hazrat Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him).

Hazrat Sa’sa’ah bin Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I met Hazrat Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him) and requested him to tell me a hadith which he had heard from the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When a Muslim spends two portions of his wealth in the way of Allah, the angels of Paradise call him towards themselves. Hasan Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) explained the meaning of "zawjain" (two portions) as either two dinars, or two dirhams, or two slaves, or any two things.

Hazrat Maymun bin Mehran (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates that whenever Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to send an army, he would gather people for it. When the required number was completed, he would provide them with equipment for jihad from whatever was available with him. During the era of Hazrat Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), "‘Atiyyah" was not obligatory.

Hazrat Sa’d bin ‘Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would mostly remain silent and spoke very little. When the command for battle was given, he would prepare for it and display more bravery than all others.

It is narrated from Hazrat Zaid bin Aslam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Engage in jihad, you will remain healthy and you will obtain spoils of war."

It is narrated from Hazrat Uqbah bin Aamir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty will admit three people into Paradise because of a single arrow: its maker, who intends good in its making; its shooter; and the one who hands it over. Shoot arrows and ride animals. In my view, your practicing archery is better than riding. Every game is suitable for a Muslim, except that shooting arrows with a bow, training a horse, and playing with one’s wife are games of truth.

Hazrat Abu Rayhanah narrates that once we set out on a jihad with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. One night was extremely cold, and due to the cold, people were in such a state that they would dig a pit, enter it, and place their saddle over it. On this occasion, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Who will stand guard for us tonight?" An Ansari man said, "I will stand guard." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who are you?" He then stated his lineage, so the Prophet ﷺ prayed for his well-being. Then the Prophet ﷺ said, "Who will stand guard for us tonight?" I said, "I will stand guard." The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who are you?" I said, "I am Abu Rayhanah." The Prophet ﷺ prayed for me with a different supplication than for the Ansari companion, then said, "There are three eyes upon which the fire of Hell is forbidden: one eye that stayed awake in the path of Allah, the second eye that wept out of fear of Allah." The narrator Muhammad bin Sameer did not mention the third eye. (From evidence, it is understood that the third eye is the one that lowered its gaze from looking at what is unlawful.)

Hazrat Tariq bin Shihab narrates that when Hazrat Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from jihad, he would stay at Qadisiyyah, and when he returned from Hajj, he would stay at Madain for jihad.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever is wounded in the way of Allah (Allah knows every person who is wounded in His way), on the Day of Resurrection his wound will be in the same state as it was on the day it was inflicted.

It is narrated from Hazrat Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever provides shade over the head of a Mujahid, Allah Almighty will grant him shade on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever equips a Mujahid for jihad, he will have a reward equal to that of the Mujahid until he attains martyrdom or returns. Whoever builds a mosque in which the name of Allah is mentioned, Allah Almighty will build a house for him in Paradise.

It is narrated from Hazrat Sahl bin Hunaif that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Whoever helps a warrior in the way of Allah, or assists a debtor in difficulty, or helps a slave who is writing for his freedom for the sake of Allah, then Allah Almighty will grant him shade on the Day when there will be no shade except His.

It is narrated from Hazrat Khalid Jahni (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever provides iftar to a fasting person, prepares a mujahid, arranges for a pilgrim, or takes care of their family after they have left, will receive a reward equal to theirs, and their reward will not be diminished in the least.

It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I have been informed about three people who will be the first to enter Paradise: a martyr, a slave who, despite serving his master, does not fall short in obedience to his Lord, and a poor man with dependents who does not ask anything from anyone.
