Khalid bin Ar'arah narrates that when Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, he mentioned an incident narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), in which he (Sayyiduna Ali, may Allah be pleased with him) said concerning the words of the Exalted Lord, "Indeed, the first House established for mankind is the one at Bakkah" [Surah Al Imran: 96]: "Know that it was not the first dwelling ever built in the world, for Sayyiduna Nuh (may Allah's mercy and peace be upon him) lived long before Sayyiduna Ibrahim (may Allah's mercy and peace be upon him), and people (even in his time) used to live in houses, and Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) himself also lived in houses. Rather (the meaning of the verse is that) it is the first House appointed for mankind (as a qiblah and place of worship), as Allah said: 'blessed and a source of guidance for all the worlds. In it are clear signs, (among them) the Station of Ibrahim, and whoever enters it becomes safe' [Surah Al Imran: 96-97]."
This hadith was recorded by Imam Ishaq bin Rahwayh and Imam al-Harith in their Musnads through Hammad bin Salamah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hujayr bin Bayan (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no relative who goes to a (wealthy) relative of his and asks him for something of the surplus wealth that Allah Almighty has given him, and that person (despite having the wealth) is miserly towards him, except that on the Day of Resurrection an extremely venomous and furious serpent will be brought out for him, its mouth open and its tongue darting, until it encircles him and becomes a collar around his neck." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited this blessed verse: "And let not those who are miserly with what Allah has given them of His bounty think that it is good for them. Rather, it is bad for them. Their necks will be encircled by what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection" [Surah Al Imran: 180].

It is narrated from Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him) that al-Harith bin Suwayd first accepted Islam, then he (apostatised and) went back to his people and adopted disbelief; so Allah Almighty revealed this blessed verse: "How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and had testified that the Messenger is true" [Surah Al Imran: 86].
The narrator says that a man from al-Harith's people conveyed these verses to him and recited them to him, and al-Harith (on hearing these verses) said: "By Allah! As far as I know, you are certainly truthful, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is even more truthful than you, and Allah Almighty is the most truthful of the three." Then he came back and accepted Islam again with great excellence and sincerity.

He said to me: "It is indeed possible for a prophet to be deceived and betrayed, or to be killed; but the actual reading is 'an yaghulla', that is, with a dammah on the ghayn, because it is not befitting of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, to make any prophet one who betrays."
