It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) concerning the words of Allah Almighty, "You are the best nation brought forth for mankind: you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong" [Surah Al Imran: 110], that he said: "What is meant by this (verse) are the Muhajir Companions who emigrated to Madinah."
Imam al-Harith bin Abi Usamah recorded it in his Musnad; in its chain, al-Hasan bin Qutaybah al-Khuza'i is da'if (weak), and Simak bin Harb's narration from Ikrimah is mudtarib (inconsistent).
