Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: While supplicating at Arafah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised both hands, and the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: This is an expression of humility before Allah Almighty. Meanwhile the she-camel made a sound, so he opened one of his two hands and held the she-camel with it, while during this he kept the other hand raised.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded something similar, except that in it the words are: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had raised both hands, the she-camel's rein fell, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of it and raised both hands; and he added these words: "This was out of humility and earnest entreaty." The narrators of al-Bazzar are the narrators of the 'Sahih', except Ahmad bin Yahya al-Sufi, and he is thiqah (trustworthy); however, al-A'mash did not hear from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).

Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing at Arafah, with his upper wrap passed under his armpit; he had raised both hands, but they did not go above his head, and his muscles were trembling.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Muhammad bin Ubaydullah al-Arzami, who is da'if (weak).

Muhammad bin Abi Yahya narrates: I saw Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both); he saw a man supplicating with both hands raised, doing so before he had finished his prayer. When he had finished the prayer, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not raise his hands until he had finished his prayer.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and in giving his biography he said: Muhammad bin Abi Yahya al-Aslami narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both); the narrators of this report are 'thiqat' (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Ask Allah Almighty with your palms! Do not ask Him with their backs (that is, while supplicating keep the palms facing upwards, do not keep the backs of the palms upwards)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the 'Sahih', except Ammar bin Khalid al-Wasiti, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
